She might have some good points. Islam became somewhat backward after an incredible rise from the time of Muhammad to about 1100 ad when it was driven out of Spain. Prior to 1100 ad Islam was in the forefront of development in all areas of endeavor. The most backward however are the people who are so easily manipulated by the state propaganda outlets of the US. Politicos can rely on the US public to forget everything after six months. Even better for them, they can rely on the people to misunderstand almost everything that happens in the world of finance and politics. They can do whatever and say whatever they want and the people, being intellectually lazy and poorly educated will get right in line.

Hearing her speak, she appears to be a well-educated woman who is passionately seeking to dispel some of the myths surrounding Islam and help her people to be more accepted.
She has great faith and is using the gifts God has given her to do something positive with her life. If there is a Heaven, she is definitely earning her way there.
The fact that Ms. Manji is receiving death threats from those who wish to continue subjugating the ignorant is proof enough of what she says.

You may disagree with Mr. Beck's points of view but be assured, he's far from being an idiot. We can learn much by listening to those whom with our views differ.

Hey everyone this guy strongly believes that he is right and wants to expose the evil. Ex-Muslims label him wise and intelligent. But really he is stupid and dumb because honestly if you strongly believe in something and want to put an end to it what will you be doing sitting on the Internet and trying to push your stupid ideologies on people? I say if he really believes and hates the so called evil, why doesn't he do something valuable with his er..talents? I'm sure he is just a wimp. And now I know what he is going to say: Muslims don't like the truth OR ask the ex-Muslims they have seen it. But i converted to Islam so I know those people have made the worst decision and I too have seen Islam and other beliefs for myself. But do I, although I believe my religion is correct, go around and try to bring down other religions, even the one i converted from? No because it doesn't effect me and If he knows that Islam is false, why is he burning? Get a brain!Get a life bro! You ain't doing nothing but wasting your precious "Atheist Time" If you want to put your influences on other people don't be a dork because the Internet isn't helping. God is Wise and Powerful...a idiot like you won't change my view or other people who believe in God/Allah. And you a curse There a muslim has DARED to answer you, satisfied? And NO ONE forced me to convert

She's an 'ideal' Muslim who is doing good for her faith not killings. Glenn Beck has the most popular talk-radio show around and frequently takes sides against injustice, like with those two punished border patrols he's interested in. That's an idiot? Then are you smart?

Well, there is cause for a sort of reformation within Islam. There are too many people with differing views of Islam, and too many interpretations/too many factions. Too much distrust.
The west sees Islam as it is touted by the "jihadists," and not having much of a frame of reference to go by, many view all of Islam as such.
We wonder why some can say "Islam is a religion of peace," and others scream "Allahu Akbar" as they detonate themselves among innocent women and children.

Why the constant rush to violence? Why the constant death threats when something bothers adherents or their faith?

These are questions that no one can seem to answer.

No, I actually like her. I don't think she goes too far and I don't think she's misguided. I think she doesn't agree with certain orthodox doctrine and sees room for improvement and progress within Islam and is in touch with the younger generation. She simply has different ideas and I don't consider *thinking* or having new ideas to be a sign of being misguided. However, I'm sure those who are orthodox, who disagree with her and her *thinking* likely think she's misguided and is going too far.

It sounds to me like she is exactly the sort of voice that makes Islam look less extremist as a whole. When I read your link (i had heard her name and known a little about her before) I was relieved to see that debate even within the Islamic community. Just as Christianity looks better because of the existence of sects like the Quakers and Unitarians, sects that teach tolerance and free thought, Islam will be made stronger...and look better to the world community...for her criticism.

Things that resist critique are usually the organizations most in need or critique.

We don't know what she said unless we saw the show, so how can we answer?

So let's do a quick comparison:

She insults Islam

Muslims murder people.

Hmm.....

The question that comes to my mind first is why you're not asking if Muslim terrorists are "going to far"? Why are you worried about some Canadian chick who isn't violent?

I'm afraid I didn't check the link and I surely stay clear of Glenn Beck but I do think that is one of the most interesting avatars I have seen.
