you'd have to get software to format and add files to CD-RW's

Using Windows XP, you can use "drag and drop" to burn a CD as a CD-R.

Open one window were you can see the blank CD. Open another window where you can see the file(s) you want to burn. Drag the files to the CD window and drop them. You will see them appear in the CD window.

When you have all the files there, go under the File menu and click the "Burn files" option. It should take a couple minutes to burn the files to the CD. Once you have burned the files to the CD you will not be able to change the files.

HOWEVER, if you want to burn to the CD as a CD-RW, so that you can use it like a gigantic floppy disk, you will need a software like Nero, Roxio, or a UDF writer to be able to format the CD-RW for reuse. Look at http://download.com and you will find several CD-RW (also called UDF) programs.

Once you have format the CD with the UDF format, you will be able to use it just like a floppy, dragging, dropping, deleting and change files on it.

the fastest way is to right click on the files and choose "send to" and choose your cd burner. You can pick just a file or a folder.
Each time you do this, a balloon will pop up that say " You have files waiting to be written to the Cd" just ignore this until you have the last file. Then click on the balloon. This will open Windows explorer to you CD drive. On the top of the Left side panel it says. "write these files to CD" Click on that to "burn" them onto the cd.
If you missed the balloon pop up , you can always go to Start-My computer-and double click on your CD drive. this will open up the same window.
