To me, declining moral standards involves much more than movies and television. Morality involves taking care of the widow and the orphan - meaning honesty, compassion, justice, etc. The lack of social justice in this world is a moral lapse that upsets me much more than the fact that you can turn on the tv and see women in a state of undress.
Where are we, the churches, when our North American companies are paying workers about $100 monthly in Honduras, and making billions selling their wares here? Where are we, the churches, when our governments "forgive" a debt that has been paid several times over, in interests, on the condition that the 3rd world countries drop their industries to buy our products? We are causing so much misery all over the world - children starving, in the streets, a child burning almost to death in her house because there was no water to put out the flames, etc. etc., just so we can keep up our coomfortable lifestyle. And where is the church? Where is our prophetic voice? People on Answers are asking "Where is God?" when little children suffer. I ask, and I believe God is asking, "Where is the church?". We have slipped into an immorality that brings shame to the name of Jesus.
EDIT:
I had the same thought as AshVass below - non-Christians can comment on the morality situation just as much as Christians can. (And some of them could teach us a thing or two).

You are right. Baptist have been screaming about this for over 40 years. For this they get a bad name. But as it turns out they were right. Just look at the Methodist, Episcopal, Pentecostal, Charismatic, and a few other churches. It is difficult to find even 5-10% of either of these congregations that are born again Christians. In some cased the whole denomination is lost. There are few churches left that are scripturally and spiritually sound. Most Baptist are still okay, also the Presbyterians, and very few of the Independents, like Calvary Chapel. Of course the Amish/Mennonites are straight as an arrow, maybe a little extreme, but straight. I do not know of another denomination that is unquestionably Christian.

No, the world has been on a decline since Adam and Eve ate from the tree. Think about the old testement. God thought the world was so horrible, he burned the city of soddom and gamora and flooded the world. So while the world seems really bad, it was at one time so bad that God wanted to start over.
Also, when Jesus came over 2000 years ago, he spoke out against the corruption in the churches. He was constantly calling out the pharises and the rulers saying that the church wasn't running the way it was supposed to.
If you read the Bible, it talks about how corrupt the world is and how it always will be. It talks about how we as Christians will always have to struggle for our faith.
Just try to find the good instead of focusing on the bad. It is hard with all the bad press out there, but God is active in the world even though it is going downhill. Try and find the good everyday, it is what helps me not loose hope.

His eyes are opened!
No. It is not your imagination, nor is it a new trend or a shift. It has always been there all the time since the dawn of humanity.
1. Adam and Eve committed the first sin.
2. Able killed his brother cane.
3. Solomon loved a Shepherd girl who rejected him, so he sent her boyfriend to the front to be killed.
4. Lut's daughters made their father drink too much wine and slept with him.
5. The Pharaoh's wife had a crush on Joseph.
6. Jews are well-known throughout history to have been practising usury.
7. Catholic priests always molested young boys.
8. The whole kingdom of Sparta was a kingdom of homosexuals.
9. Princess Lesbia is the pioneer of lesbianism; named after her.
10. Cleopatra, a Greek whore, who ruled Egypt fornicated with Caesar and had a son from him.
11. Clinton's scandal is known to everybody.
12. American soldiers in Iraq have no moral standard whatsoever. They rape woman every now and then. Abu-Greib prison is an example.
13. The pope in Rome believed women have to deliver their babies in pain, because of the original sin. That is why he waged his witch hunt, because witches helped ease the pain of villagers women by using herpes.
You know what, I am going to stop. I am tired. The list is too long, and if you are not aware of it, then you must be blind in your eyes and your mind.

yes you are right. Because it is written that the son of man will come when we least expect it. This decline is Prophecy and is nothing less that a sign that the time is near. The decline will continue to progress into we are at our most vulnerable era. Then when only so few of us are still prepared and ready, he will come.
Goog luck to those of you that do not believe. You will be given a second chance while enduring tribulation.

I believe nations go in cycles. They have a beginning point like when America was founded and when Rome finally accepted it. They go through some glory years and then it all starts to decline and become post-Christian. We are seeing this starting to happen in Europe and its happening here too. Even tually things will become so morally corrupt that God will punish that nation by letting it fall.

You are very awake, alert and aware and I am proud of you.
The church should be influencing the world not the world influencing the church which is why I left my church preaching the propserity gospel crap. Stay close to the Lord and rejoice in His truth and read your word, This was an awesome post thank you for encouraging me and blessing me.
Peace be with you,

I do not think this is true. The world is getting more moral an not less. If you ask your gut it may not be. But if you consider murder, rape, and out of wedlock marriage it is improving.
I think Jesus Christ and generally Christianity has had a significant role in making the world better.
Don't use hot button issues to measure society. Just do the work God has asked from you. It takes a pretty big man to judge the world, that it why it is Jesus' job.
(But I think there are small declines and we are in one now)

it is human nature to want to be accepted and being from a religious upbringing; all I dreamed about was being the girl in school that everyone loved and wanted. What I I also didnt want to be unpopular and know as the girl in long skirts. So I became that popular girl that everyone wanted to sleep with and I still wasnt happy. But no matter how many times my parents and church tried to teach me that I had to learn the hard way. I believe we all do, this road is hard to walk that is way so few of us can make the journey.

Much of what you say is true. But if you look back to the total church history beginning with its inception during the Roman Empire, you´d find some terrible things being done.
Spanish Inquisition, burning witches, killing natives in the Americas
