a local denny's could be good. usually they have a banquet room in the back and good priced food. or see if your apartment place has a rec room. do a cook out or potluck. also start with your list and think about everyones personalities to determine what kind of games to do. don't forget to register at stores.

If you have a recreational park around check and see if they have any rooms that you can rent or check out any local country clubs to see if you can rent some space from them.If the weather is nice having a baby shower at a park can be really nice too. After you figure out the place decide on the decorations/theme it can be something that matches your nursery or just a design that you like. Then plan what kind of food will be served there if you have a Publix close by they make sandwich rings which I had for my baby showers and they arent too pricey and can feed a crowd. Publix also has beautiful baby shower cakes. As far as games I did a search on Yahoo and went to some of there suggested sites to find some wonderful and funny games. Invitations should be sent out no earlier then a month in advance and no later then two weeks before the event. If there are certain things that you need for you baby I would suggest registering at places like Wal Mart,Target, Toys R Us and or Baby's R Us which ever is close and or convienent. Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful babyshower.

I don't live there, so I can't help with that, but I can help with the rest, although you might want to consider your church if you attend one because they usually have lare meetig areas, and will offer them up for free for wedding and baby showers as long as you do the cleanup! First of all, do not tell people what you want. You go to either babies r us if you have one, or even walmart now has a registry. You go through and scan everything you think you might need that you don't already have, then you include a small note saying "I am registered at Babies r us" that way they can get you what they want, or they can get you something from your list. Don't be surprised if you don't get stuff from your list, experienced moms often ignore the list and bring you gifts they absolutely know you will need.
As for games, I love the one where you pour different baby foods in the diapers and have everyone make lists of what they think is in each diaper it is hilarious. We also do the diaper derby where you have teams race to powder and diaper a baby. We play the one where you buy the extremely tiny safety pins and put them in a bowl of uncooked rice, and the people have to try to find as many as they can blindfolded! Another popular one is when you give the guests rolls of toilet tissue and they have to guess how many squares of paper it will take to wrap around you. This one is so funny especially if you invite men because they will pull off about thirty pieces! After they guess, you go around the room and let them measure it against your belly to see who was the most accurate! Congratulations!

Go to a baby store or even walmart and register there to pick out the thing you need for the baby . On the invitation tell them what store you have registered at . Each time a person buys something on your list it will be marked off . You can rent a fire hall to through the shower . Good games to play is baby things scrambled up . Like rdpaei which spells diaper . Or names for babies scrambled . Like ndwa which spells Dawn . The safety pin game which you can take from anyone if they say baby . Get a large bowl and put dry rice in it and stick small safety pins in the rice and blind fold the person and have them pick through the rice with one hand for 1 min . and see who gets the most pins . When they are grabbing for the pins they can not take a hand full and put allot of rice on the platter . Put # 's at the bottom of the cups or plates and pick a couple of # 's for someone to win a prize . There is more to do but GOOD LUCK !!!!

look at websites for ideas for themes and games, I don't live in your area but I'm sure just about any place would love to have their buisness use for the baby shower, it means money for them. And who doesn't enjoy making money?

Baby showers are thrown by someone other then the mother to be. The person throwing it makes all the plans.
