I have been having anxiety and panic attacks for twenty years now. It started when i was 18. I would have as many as 20 attacks a day. I got very depressed becasue I didnt know what the hell was happening to me. At first the doctors didn't know what was going on with me so they did all types of test on me and finally I went to a doctor and he told me what was wrong. I have been on meds for this every since and do great. For a long time i couldn't drive or go out into public and now I love the public. I haven't had a panic attack in years but I can recall how bad they were. I take 20 mg. of Lexapro and 150 mg of Wellburtin a day and it works great. Twenty years ago I was on a different medicine and it worked good to but you have to have your meds adjusted from time to time, so they can tell what works best for you. But please take you meds all the time, dont stop just when you start to feel better because most of the time they will just come back. I wish you the best and if you need a friend to talk to just let me know because I really know what you are going through and just remember it will get better, I promise. take care....

Cut out all sugar, caffeine, alcohol.
Drink plenty of water, get a good nights rest.
Do something your enjoy.
Touch reality...call someone, walk the dog, chat with a neighbor.
Panic attacks are not dangerous just scary. I have had them for 28 years.
DP/DR.....De-personalization and De-realization are way more terrorizing than a panic attack. Let's not go there.
Avoid taking a shower when in a panic attack........water, steam, heat makes the attack worse.
Don't fight the attack, try to get out of the "Brain Lock" by touching reality as I mentioned earlier.
Some ppl think they are having a heart attack or will go insane when the are in a Panic Attack. It's just the body's response to the adrenaline.
*** If you truly are in dire straights and can't overcome the fear, "Brain Loc", ,,,,,,,,please go to the ER asap.
There are lots of good meds, books, tapes to help one control Panic Attacks and their nastier cousins DP/DR
***Btw----Many ppl who DON'T suffer from Depression, Bipolar, DP/DR. Panic Attacks here will recommend St Johns Wort, Valerian, Hops......all are garbage!
High Quality Omega 3 and daily exercise can assist as well as meds.
Feel free to email
Best of luck!

It all starts with your breathing to, force yourself to breathe slowly and watch to make sure you are not holding your breath which makes it so much worse.Practice on focusing and distract yourself by talking to the phone or inviting someone to be with you right now.NO caffeine and other stimuoants. There are so many books on the subject and most importantly that no matter what happens, these are just symtoms , THEY WILL NOT KILL YOU ! I have dealt with panic attacks for 5 yrs and have learned so much since then, the more you ignore them when they come the faster they go away.Hope this helps a little until you see a dr.
take care

Go to the nearest grocery or health food store and buy some Valerian caps or at the least some Sleepytime tea. It works because it worked for me.

Check this web site, knowing a little more of your condition helps.
Also, when you're feeling so much anxiety call a friend or family member, and please, when you go see your doctor don't go alone. You need your love ones support.
