I agree with some of the other answers being that he is only 11 but come on, who didn't have a harmless crush on a boy or a girl, my boy is 6 he doesn't persay have any ideas about girls yet but there is one special valentine for this one girl that his face turns bright red over if you even mention her name or he'll get mad.
So why not let them go out, what we call going out is different than what they think of it, there not thinking anything our minds will come up with. lol
My thoughts hope they help....
Well Valentines is the perfect oppurtunity, with lots of time to plan do they have one of those secret Valentine things in his school, my son is in grade one they call them candy grams, make a cute little mystery poem on the card , they usually also come with some little gift or something.
If not give her a personal valentine poem or card and a small box of chocolates or a rose or her favorite flower. You have lots of time to try and figure out what she likes ....
When were young we have this idea that we are little princesess and we are looking for our princes it's all those stupid books that are parent's make us read and movies we watch now a days. She will love it, every girl likes flattery,
couple other ideas....
1. date for a picnic lunch at school,
2. group date to lazer tag, mini golf, arcade, movie, with lots of other girls and boys could really work out because they are still young some parents might be a little weirded out with there little girl going to a movie i dunno or being alone with a boy. Group dates are always good
3. Or make it a double date, talk to the parents say your coming but you will have your own special table, that they will have there own space but you will be closely around and just go somewhere semi cheap, just not Mc Donalds...lol
4. Go to a basketball game if he plays invite her to one of his. or watch one of hers works for any sport
5. are you church people is there a youth group or a community group that he belongs too that he could invite her too.
I think a simple valentine and a special box of chocolates is the best and would give him the idea whether or not she has a crush too.
Then you have lots of ideas on things that they can do
Cheers,
Once young too with a crush

Sounds like your son has a crush for the first time. Supervise their time together, and help him when the girl decides to move on to another guy (which, at that age, probably happens much quicker than most). He's learning about life in a new way to him. He has a GF. Cute, really. When he starts to ask the really tough questions, be ready for him. Don't let him find out these things the hard way, for sure. Guide him is the best thing I can think of. Good luck!

By saying, Hey, you're cute and I'd like to take you out when I turn 16."
11 is too young to even think about a date.
Let him stay shy and innocent for a while. He'll have plenty of time to work on that when he's older.

Why are you encouraging your 11-year-old son to date? Shouldn't he wait until he grows normal body parts before he even thinks about it? Some parent you are.

11 is too young to date dad, get a grip! If he and some friends (including this girl) want to go out and have fun, with adult supervision, that's fine...but there should be no "asking out" for several more years....16 is plenty early for young people to date...

HELLO! HE'S ELEVEN! The last thing on his mind should be going out with a girl!!! He should be worried about things like how to improve his freethrow shooting or how to raise his math grades or what can he do to help around the house! As a parent, you shouldn't be trying to make him grow up too fast! Let him be a kid!

my brother is 9, in fourth grade, and he told me a lot of kids in his class are dating, so i guess in 2007, 11 is not topo young. give her a card and say would you be mine, and also say i like you, but he is 11, so what happen if the girl say no, that is the problem.

He shouldn't. He should be collecting Matchbox cars and playing ball with his friends. Why do parents try to turn their children into miniature adults? Sick. For goodness sakes, he's only 11....that's 5th grade....still in elementary school.
