In Bangkok it will be more like 5000+ a month for a decent department store with a "name" - like Emporium or Robinson.. for a Thai business, outside of Bkk, it can go as low as 3000 baht a month - so, I would say she is on the low end of ballpark.. low skilled people in the country make 3000 baht per month, yes..

It is still very true. A girl with a college degree can only hope to makeabout 10,000 baht a month tops. I know a lady with a degree who took a job as a quality control manager in a factory with a starting wage of only 8,000 baht per month. (about $250) Wages are slightly highter in Bangkok but nationwide the average Thai makes from $2500 - $3000 per year.

The 6-8000 range for decent stores seems to ring true with me as I know a girl that quit recently. As far as people saying its because things are cheap that is partially bull. They are but people live together and have no privacy or beds (though that is more their style). Also they eat cheaply. A college degreed person would want a room alone and be able to eat out now and again right? Manyof the girls I know can't even buy cheap name brand stuff on their salaries. Stuff is cheap fro us as westerners but for them on those salaries its a struggle. But they don't like living alone anyway so......

I think that time is over. The girls I know make around 4-6000 bath a month. Only serving and cleaning staff make around 3000.
But remember that everything is cheap and the living wage is around 100 bath a day. Nearly all low sallary workers live together in small groups, so they share the rent and food.

In Bangkok, 6,000-8,000 in a store like Central or Robinson. Also some work on commission. A friend worked in men's clothing and he worked on commission, which could be more or less than the going rate.

where does she work? in Bangkok or up country? and which department store? I think It's about 3000-6000 for people who work at department store. If she has degree(B.A) she will get about 10,000-15,000 if she has experience she will get more 30,000. it depends what kind of job she has.

Yes it is true. However, as the cost of living is low, they can actually get by on that sum, even in Bangkok.
