There is a website called Peter Answers 3.0. My friend called me totally freaked out about this web site!!! Apparently, you can ask ABSOLUTELY ANY QUESTION on this web site ... as personal as you want it to be, and it will answer the question CORRECTLY. There are no 20 Questions, no process of elemination, it just answers the questions TO A "T"!!!! Now, here is the catch ... from what I understand it doesn't always work for everyone. They tried to trick it, pretend they were someone else ... everything and it was as if it KNEW!!! It didnt' work for me, my husband or my son ... so I am curious who else out there has been on this web site, and who has this worked for. Mainly, I want to know how it works!!!

I would agree with you on the "magic 8 ball," etc. except it doesn't give vague answers ... they are EXACT!!! If it worked for you ... after asking EXACT questions that require DETAILED answers ... let me know!

Chris T: Thankyou for your views on this, however there is one problem ... I tried to do exactly what you said, and it simply typed what I typed. I'm not sure how your friend did this, but I had no luck at this so I am still perplexed. Any suggestions, now?

I went to Peter Answers today at the end of Computer class and freaked out all my classmates. I was the only one that new the "trick" to make it work, so I was having the time of my life laughing at them all and telling them the computer was haunted.
Here's what you do:
1. Start like normal. (where it says "Insert Petition.")
2. Type a period. (yes, the punctuation mark, silly.) Notice it still comes up as the letter P.
3. Type the answer to the question you're about to ask. For example, if you're about to ask "What is my name?" them type Bob. Notice that whatever you are typing is hidden and the petition continues to show up like normal.
4. When you're done typing the answer to your question, type a period.
5. Continue typing the rest of the petition like normal, so those around you think you've been typing it the whole time.
6. In the question box, type the question. For example "What is my name?"
The answer will be "Bob" if you did it correctly. If it works, mess with your friends with it. They'll be SOOO freaked out!

The whole site is a trick. I don't know who figured it out originally or how, but the site does not truly know your answers. Your friend (or whoever showed you) was entering the answer to the question. In the first blank which I believe says "Enter Petition Here" , you have to press the period key. A "P" will appear. Then if you proceed to type the answer to the question you want to ask, it will come up as "Peter please answer the following question:" no matter what you typed. Just beware that if you type a second period, what you are actually typing will show up. And if you hold down the period key after you have typed your question, then the full petition will be written instead of leaving an awkward petition such as "Peter, please answer the follow". Hope you're happy with this response. But the whole fun to the site is to play the trick on others, so do pass it on.

It is a (rather ingenious) trick wherein whoever is typing is not actually typing the phrase "Peter, please answer the following question:" The program allows that phrase to be typed no matter what the typists is actually pressing. So, in other words, watch the typists fingers, not the screen, and you will notice he is typing whatever the answer will be. A way to trick the program is by asking it a question that the typist shouldn't know.
This had me out-of-my-mind freaking out for a good two hours before my buddy let on to the joke. Granted, to do this to someone else, you have to practice both typing without drawing attention to your hands, as well as giving vague answers in order to keept the gag going.
Hope this helped

I witnessed the authenticity of peteranswers.com, but it would only work for the two men in our midst. It gave the correct answers to all of our questions. Even the answers to things that no one else could have possibly known. It is true that it does not work for everyone; at first. Some that have kept trying for hours or days have finally been able to communicate with Peter. One of the women, that was amongst in the room, is a very religious person and refused to stick around after it answered her question; to a "T". There is a "666" associated with this site and one must always be careful when dealing with the energy of evil. I, myself have no fear as I believe in good AND evil. I will continue trying to communicate with Peter until he answers me.

Every time i ask him a question it just says: that hes mad at me, someone is waiting for u out side or something about Emily's spirit -didn't work for me...halla

yeah, it would help with a link and all.
update: I found this site http://www.peteranswers.com/
If that is what you mean, it is a fairly basic AI/Eliza program with a web frontend, with limited keyword recognition and some generalized answers that are bound to apply in most situation.
