and if so do you feel like you have to somehow 'prepare' youself for death?
cause when I think sometimes about it, it feels so strange, far and yet so close it can come to you at any time, sometimes even without giving you a warning

Oh man, I was so scared to die. I didn't even really know why, cause I never really was scared of the way I was going to die, or the pain involved. I just had this general fear of the whole subject of death. If I drove past a cemetary, I got sick to my stomache. Anyway, after I became a Christian and really started having a relationship with God, all the fear melted away. I didn't even know it had until we drove by a cemetary one day and I didn't have that same feeling I had always had.
I guess now I know that I have nothing to fear, that I will be with God and my family will be OK.
I love my life, and I have had an amazing time here on earth, and everyday is a gift. I cherish my past, live for today and look forward to the future. When it is my time to go, I will have been blessed and ready to enter those gates.

bare with me this is kind of long...i received an email that explained it well.

A man called a vet to his house for an emergency with his dog. After the vet examined the dog he told the guy that all was lost and that his dog needed to be put out of its misery. After the proceedure was finished the doctor was saying goodbye to the owner when the door to the barn burst open and the vet's own dog came bounding in to be with his master. The vet apologized for the intrusion and took his dog back to the vehicle. When he returned to the barn the guy asked him if he was afraid to die. The vet thought for a moment then said, "My dog has never been into this barn before. He didn't know what was on the other side of the door when he ran in. He just knew his master was there and that is where he wanted to be. That is how I look at dying. I don't know what happens when you die, but I know that my master is in Heaven and that is where I want to go when I die. I want to stand by His side where I am loved most of all."

I try to live my life so that this will be my reality one day.

Someone who says he is not afraid to die and says that he's not suffering, he is a madman. That's all. Who is caring for madman's word?
Everyone is afraid of death. One may not be disturbed when there is no cause of disturbances. Just like we are not now at the present moment, we are not afraid of death. But as soon as we find there is earthquake, and we are afraid of this building may fall down, there is cause of disturbances, then we become very much disturbed—sometimes screaming.

I am not afraid. I am a DNR: do not resuscitate. That is how much I long to return to The Light. I have had two life-after-life experiences. (Dr. Chopra voted me best answer to his question on this BTW) In both I felt loved beyond question, united with a warmth and true Light.

I have seen a few people die, especially in combat. They mostly looked surprised. I agree, there may be no warning. Try to keep your last wishes known (in writing). Tell people whom you love that you love them. Do not postpone the important things.

Feel free to write me but understand I have few answers, mostly just my own take on my experiences.

Peace

not afraid to die, not in hurry though. I am hoping I have things prepared so that my children are good people, able to cope with life and have a bit of money. Other than that, I don't have any regrets and I try to be as happy as a guy can, and enjoy it while I'm here.

No, I am not afraid to die.

I know with assurance that I am heavenbound, and I will see my Lord and Saviour. For the Christian, this life is just a passing through - an important one, where we have to make the decision whether or not to accept Christ or reject Him. Depending on our decision, results in whether we will be with Christ which is far far better, or be separated from God, in a lost eternity.

Where will you spend eternity?
This is the most important question you can answer - in your lifetime.

Sometimes to me it feels like I'm warming up, and the game's about to begin. Kind of like this has all been practice.

Nah, I'm not afraid to die. Nervous, yes. Afraid? No way.

I'm not afraid to die at this moment. But if I had warning that I was surely going to die at special time and month, I would be afraid!
