I don't even know if there is such a thing as an "athiest." I am aware of the existence of atheists, but having never been in a foxhole, I haven't had the opportunity to conduct interviews concerning religious beliefs in such circumstances.

I'm 59 years old and have been in 3 life-or-death situations; twice for myself and once for my child. On each occasion, I did not once pray or ask for anything outside myself to intercede (except maybe for the medical professionals.) Why would I do that when I don't believe there is a personal god?
