It may sound strange but I feel much safer in Israel than I did when I went on a trip to NY. The crime here is lower. The people are opened and friendly (though it takes some time for foreighners to get used to their style and sense of humor :)) and Israel is a beautiful country. You can see here the imprints of so many people and cultures. In some places it's like going back in time... and the weather is generally gorgeous. There are desserts here and woods and mountains and valleys...Israel is a country of variety.
Here are some nice places to go:
Jerusalem (the old city, the Mahane Yehuda Market, the neighborhood of Yemin Moshe, Nachlaot, Ein Karem
The Dead Sea
The Jaffa Port
The Judaian Dessert
Safed
Tiberius
The Golan Heights
Hebron
Mt. Carmel
And more. have a gr8 day, and hope you come!!!!
P.S by the way Jerusalem isn't any less safe than Tel-Aviv or Eilat :)

Israel is a beautiful country and very safe. Compared to my travels to Europe, I actually feel more safe in Israel, where domestic crime is much lower. Haifa is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it is a butt ugly industrial city, on the other, the views of Haifa Bay from the top of Mt Carmel are out of this world. The Bahaii Gardens are as nice as any gardens that you'll find anywhere else in the world.

I just returned from my first trip to Israel on Friday and honestly I feel very sad, as I fell in love with this wonderful country and its people.
You don´t have to worry about safety, what you see on TV is bad publicity. Do you know how many people (and tourists!!) are killed every night or simply disappear in Brazil??
In Israel you can walk wherever you like with a golden Rolex and nobody does bother you!!
By the way, the Israelis are very nice and helpful.
It has been my first trip to Israel and I am very sorry that I went just for 1 week. This summer I´ll go back but for a longer stay.

Yes, Israel is perfectly safe. The biggest cause of premature death in Israel are ... traffic accidents! People drive like crazy there. Terrorism only kills a tiny number of people every year in comparison. It should not concern you as a tourist; the chances of terrorists killing you are minute if you only stay there for a week. Some parts of the country are beautiful, some are very ugly and noisy. Enjoy yourself, and watch out for the traffic.

Israel is one of the most beautiful countries I've visited and it *is* generally safe. I've just returned from my 4th trip there and had no problems whatsoever with safety. This trip we traveled to Tel Aviv, Eilat, the Dead Sea, and Tiberias - all independently. Of course, you will notice security in many places - the malls, restaurants, cafes. But this is a minor inconvenience at worst.
Haifa is a very nice and multi-cultural city. It took some damage in last Summer's war with Lebanon, but that shouldn't discourage you from going. It's a very nice city to see modern Israeli life.

Israel is a great country to visit. the difficulty is getting over the belief that suicide bombers are everywhere. it takes a week of wandering to realize the safe places (tel aviv, elat, etc.) and unsafe areas (jerusalem, west bank, etc.) before one can really wander without any worries. the standard of living rivals any western country. friendly people, warm weather, and a unparalleled history. it's definately worth seeing.

killing in Israel is the public sport, but don't worry they kill only children and old women. Usually they like to show tourists how they are bloody and their history is full of blood. It's very safe their, but it's better to wear a bullet proof jacket in your tour and helmet as they may declare a new war anytime. Wars in Israel is like football match and has many audience. They watch their army killing some people as if they are watching the national football team. Most of the normal people are brain washed since they were kids, so they lie and live with their lies as a reality. Don't forget to buy some souvenirs from there. They have nice guns, knifes, rockets will not be suitable to carry in your luggage but it's so sweet and made in USA . Don't believe what you see in the news about violence there it's only 1% of the truth. It's more safe than Iraq true, but only in their homes as they believe safety is their safety only not other humans from any other culture or country.
