i'm pretty sure i've heard the word but i don't seem to remember what it was anymore.
The machine, like this bicycle-like thing for instance? But not the bicycle-like thing specifically but some more general word...
Could someone help me out on this one?

like others have said, may be you mean exercise bike. or may be the name you are thinking of is actually a manufacturer's name.
