My niece is named after my grandmother. For a girl, why not Marie Franklyn? It would still honor him while saving her from the burden of being mistaken for a boy all of her life (at least on mailings, health insurance, etc). If you want some form of "Mikell" for a girl, why not Michelle Franklyn?
For a boy, that sounds fine as a first name.

I think Franky Marie is more cute for a girl. Franklyn is to manly for a girl. Frank mikell is fine for a boy i named my son after his grandpa. It's your child name him or her what ever you want. Have fun being parents and congratulations...

I named my son after my grandfather. What about Frances Michelle? Franklyn is more masculine i think and Marie is just over used in my opinion. Or try looking for the names in different languages.

It doesn't matter what any of us think. It is your child. Just bear in mind that your child has to carry this name around. As long as you are not choosing a name that could be gender-confusing, or a name that other children could tease the child over, or a name that is difficult to pronounce or spell, you should be fine. Whatever your husband and you decide on should be fine. Trust yourselves. You will pick the right name.

i love the name Franklin for a boy, but i think it is a difficult name for a girl. Was your grandfather Francis? Frances is the feminine of that, and Frankie would be a cute nickname for a girl.

The boy's name is fine but the girl's will cause her problems because it sounds like a man's name. How about Francine, Frances or Francesca?
