What is the elevation for the tropical rainforest?

It's for a project for school and I can't find it anywhere. Please help...

I worked in the Ecuadorian jungle for 12 years. The jungle there was as low as 1000 ft. and would go up to about 9,000 ft. Any above this was grass load or above the tree line.

Your question is not clear. There are several ways I could interperet "elevation";

Latitude,
Height to canopy,
Height above sea level
