What would make my Excel program lag?

Whenever I'd pull up a spread sheet I've created, it would take it's own sweet time poppin' up. I'd tap it again and it would freeze. I'd give it time and it would finally go through the motions I needed it to go through.

1) right click on taskbar, task manger
2) view programs running, kill the processes that are not needed
3)uninstall not necessary programs and never used
4) clean your c:\ , my computer right click -> properties-> disk clean
