It is a common boys name in Hispanic cultures.
And by the way, Jesus is really comes from a translation of a translation of a translation. His actual Hebrew name was quite common for boys of his day.
A good link on the name:

It would be no different than a Dianic Wiccan naming their daughter Diana or an Asatruar naming their son Thor. If you mean it as a sign of love and devotion I'm sure it would be fine.

funny you should ask that. I was just having a conversation with some people yesterday, and said I wished I had named one of my children Jesus.

Nah. It's a name, like Maria or John. I could take your example to the extreme and name my firstborn God but then eveyrone would be pissed at me because I just proved God exists. Ha!

Plenty of Spanish people by that name, and they seem to get along just fine....
In the UK though it is not a common name at all though.
