I was going to make my dad a cake out of this cook book that I saw at the library but I didn't get it (the cookbook). I went back to the library to get it the next day and it wasn't there so I need ideas of cool cakes that I can make. I want something special not just a plain chocolate cake. the one that I thought was cool in the cookbook was a spiral cake where it was a circle cake but it had two different colors of spirals. Another idea I had was to make a checkered cake. Is it really hard or what? I need all the ideas that I can get. Thanks!

IThe checkered cake that I make came as a set (the cake pans, the insert, and the recipe) I bought it at Walmart. What about cupcakes with Happy Birthday on them?

This cake is not necessarily "cool: in how it looks but it is not your run of the mill chocolate cake -- but it is super easy! I can tell you that no matter who makes it the cake always gets rave reviews every time. If you want to make it look special check out your local second hand stores for a funky looking bundt pan.

Dump It Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. You will need a bundt pan.

1 package of German Chocolate Cake Mix (Dunkin Hines is good - Betty Crocker is better. You can use Devils Food but German Chocolate Cake is better).

1 package of chocolate instant pudding (must be instant)

3/4 Cup water

1/2 Cup oil

4 eggs

8 oz Sour Cream (light or fat free is fine - you won't notice the difference)

1 package or about 6 oz of semisweet chocolate chips (the more you use the oozier the cake gets - we prefer to use this amount so you get more of the cake consistency).

Confectioners sugar to sprinkle on top

Beat all the ingredients except for the chocolate chips on medium until creamy. Grease bundt pan with margarine. Add a small amount of cake mix into the pan to coat the entire inside (this helps it come out of the pan more easily). Fold the chocolate chips into the remaining batter and pour remaining batter into the bundt pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 50-55 minutes. When you check for doneness with a toothpick be careful to check that you didn't hit a chip with your toothpick :)

When cool flip pan over onto serving plate. Sift the confectioners sugar on top lightly.

Enjoy!

Angle Fruit Cake

Go get an angle fruit cake in the store, slice them into 2 layers, set aside for use later.

Filling:
1 whipping cream (regular size, not that big tall one)
1 instant pudding mix (white chocolate, if you cannot find it, you can use vanilla instead)
1 can if crashed pineapple, drain them (small can)

Mix everything together, spread them between layers and top.
Use strawberry to garnish top layer.

It was really easy, light, and delicious.

Black Forest Cake!

A chocolate cake combining cherries, biscuit, rum, whipped cream. The best!

Line a 13” X 9” X 2” cake pan with wax paper. Cut or break cake into small pieces. Place alternate layers of cake and gelatin mixture in pan until all is used. Chill overnight.

Next morning, prepare the last envelope of Lucky Whip (or use 2 cups cool whip) and spread over the top of cake. Sprinkle with coconut and garnish with marashino cherries. Refrigerate until served..
