get something that means something to you and only get your children's names put on you, remember a tattoo is the only thing you take with you when you die, so be sure, be really sure
.......... don't forget to picture yourself old with the tattoo.....

Pain is all a matter of where and the individuals tolerance. I have two and can't wait to get another. I personally do not believe in getting anyone's name done unless it is in memory or maybe your kids.

I also think you should consider location. A place that can be hidden most of the time and shown only when you want is a smart move. However.... mine are both on my back and I don't get to see them myself. It is a lot to think about. It took me 10 years to decide what and where I wanted my first one.

Oh... another note... make sure you research the tattoo artist. Tats are forever... might as well invest your time and thoughts into it before you get it.

If you are near or ever in NYC... Mike Moore at King Billy's is awsome.

Anyway... good luck!

This is a desicion only you can make.. Dont do stuff just because every one else thinks it is cool. Self expression and being yourself s way cooler then following every one else. I personaly have 5 tats. They are a part of me and I got them because it is art work I loved and expresses me. As far as them being painful.. well it depends on your personal tolerance. Some people cry and others like the feeling. On a personal note the neck, back, lower back was cake. But foot and lower stomach tensed me back in the seat a little. If you are asking ppl on here what you should get I really dont hink you are ready to have ink on your skin for life. Try fake tats for a while to see if you can handle see it there(Try getting a friend to draw with a permanent marker or henna )Remember not to ever get names, life changes from day to day. AND try to think of 50 years from now do you want to show your grandkids a naked lady on your arm????

I love tattoos but you should only get one if you are sure that you want one and sure of what you want. Tattoos are permanent so the decision should not be made lightly. When choosing a tattoo chose one with meaning or a design that you really like...don't just go for what is trendy. Tattoos do hurt but the pain is pretty minimal. It hurts a lot more to have a tattoo lasered off than to have one put on.

Tatoos are a waste of time, pain, and skin. They are a permanent mark on your body and when you change your additude toward tatoos you won't be too happy to have one on your arm. If you put a tatoo on, your taste will change and eventually you won't like the one u have and then you'll want another to satisfy your taste then and then when your'e a grandma/grandpa you won't want to have tatoos all over your body for your grandchildren to have. It is a terrible idea. You are permanently scarring your body. Did you know that when you get tatoos, the needle is putting permanent ink into the pigment of your skin to change the color. It is painful and it is twice as painful and expensive to get them removed. I wouldn't suggest it.

Imagine yourself as a geriatric in an old folks home being turned over in bed by a nurse who is cleaning you. The nurse sees this wrinkled smudge of color on you and pulls the folds of skin apart to see what brave statement you're making.

How about wanting to get that Fortune 500 job and having to use body paint or wear only certain kinds of clothing to hide your personal statement to the world.

Unless you want to stay at a certain socio-economic level for the rest of your life, it's best to not get one. If you must get one, get something meaningful and put it where no one can see it. But then, what is the point in getting one if no one sees it.

if you don't know if you should get one then you shouldn't. tattoos are a big decision and in order for you to be happy with it forever you need to know that you know what you want. so until then just wait it out. also, different people will say different things about the pain but all of my tattoos have hurt.

getting a tattoo is something you are going to have to decide on your own. I myself have 8 and im about to get another one by the end of this month. All of them mean something to me and i wouldnt trade them for anything. Depending on the location of your tattoo, the pain will vary. I have angel wings on my back and they hurted the most ever...but people are different. Just think about it before you get one.

You should be sure that it is a reputable artist and that he uses new needles and cleans the area very well. My daughter just turned 18 and she got her first tattoo. It was a very beautiful butterfly but, after she got it a sist (sp) formed right on one of its wings. She had to have surgery to remove the sist and now it looks horrible. I would be very careful.
