I downloaded google earth. When I try to use it, it shuts down my computer?

When the program begins,it will start by initilizing, open up the space window, and begin to show the earth, and then it shuts down my computer requiring it to restart on its own. I am running windows xp

There are several things that could cause this:
1. Corrupt files. Run checkdisk. To do this, go to the command prompt and type "chkdsk /f" and then enter. Respond with "y" and enter when it asks you if you want to run it at next boot.
2. Program Incompatability. Try uninstalling the program and reinstalling it.
3 Malware. Go through the procedures for getting rid of virus, spyware and malware.
