You need to dig out the old caulk with a screwdriver or something on that order and then go get a tube of bathtub silicone caulk. In the same area of the store you should be able to find a small plastic tool that finishes the caulk off smoothly and gets rid of the excess. Ask at the hardware store. It really is easy.

use a sharp putty knife to remove the old caulk. get every bit of it off!

then clean it. if you see any mold at all, clean the area with a bleach and water solution

let dry at least overnight, otherwise you are sealing in any moisture and the caulk will get moldy.

use a silicone bath caulk. when you are done applying it, take a wet finger and smooth it out.

remove the excess as you go.

make sure you let the caulk dry according to the instructions on the tube.

Recaulk? Take of the caulking that's currently on there then apply the kitchen adn bath caulking if you have dish soapy water on hand and dip your finger in it it helps it glide on smoother and prevents it from sticking to your finger.
