since cats love to jump and to be high up, you should make a series of shelves going up the wall in a stair formation, with the top one about a foot from the ceiling. from the bottom of each shelf hang a piece of long twine with a cloth bag full of dried catnip. make a large wooden cube about 2' feet per side and put holes in various places around it. my cats have something like this and they spend a lot of hours in it. a couple of scratching posts would probably be appreciated too. If you have a litter box in the room for them, divide it off from the play space with some partition walls and a ceiling. would be cool if you could manage to get the walls painted in a striped tabby pattern or tiger stripes or leopard spots. hang up "no dogs allowed" signs all over. there's a lot of great bumper stickers and fridge magnets etc, that you could place on the door and walls. Dont forget to put a nice comfortable ledge for them in front of the window so they can lounge there and stare at all the birds. cover everything with green indoor/outdoor carpeting so it looks like grass. put a very heavy carpeting on the scratch posts. you could try growing a few pots of that cat grass (my cats dont seem to really care much for it though).

First of all, you are NOT CRAZY! I have 2 cats and love them to death and I have a dog too. I never had an extra room for the cats...would have been nice. I like the ideas of covering the walls with something they could scratch. And also the ideas of the shelves for them to sleep and climb on. Don't forget to put out the catnip. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

what a MAD idea a room for your cats, well first of all i would paint the room a real nice color maybe do some artwork on the walls like the grass and the sky and some birds flying around, then put some of those little couches around the room and heaps of cat toys around the place, it would look so cool if done right, good luck

Cool idea, I wish I had the room to do something like that.
I think I would stick something nice and scratchable on the walls - like cord carpet and I would cover the floor in linoleum so it's easy to keep clean (plus my cats really seem to enjoy skidding around)
Hope that helps.

If you go with those colors, I think pale purple walls would be great. Maybe a simple sling chair with a zebra-print cover. Maybe shelves painted to match the walls. And of course floor cushions to match the bedspread. Hanging lights over both sides of the beds with shades in tiny black-and-whites prints. Your room will be fun!

are you a crazy cat lady? hehe
um... you can go to the pet stores and buy a whole bunch of cat condos and make them all connect by buying some ply wood and put some carpet on it, so tehy don't slip off and connect them all together..
