Your dog is experiencing seizures, some call it epilepsy. This is common in poorly bred dogs. Dogs found at shelters, and purchased in pet stores often have this problem.

I rescued a dog with this problem. I have been told they often grow out of it. I am still waiting, six years later.

Take him to your vet, explain the seizure situation. It can not be prevented but controlled with Phenobarbitol. It is inexpensive, about 15 dollars a month.

They will need to do some blood tests and check his liver regularly, but your dog will be fine. The seizure can be fatal if a dog doesn't pull out of it within 20 minutes. I suggest you get the medication.

Its sounds like a seizure .I would go to the vet and get blood drawn to rule out certain diseases that trigger certain seizures .There is different types .Also there is medications to help your dog .They all have side effects so I would check into them and see what your options are.It could be something smaller too but I would go to the vet also some dogs do that when they have a stroke to.Like I said its always best to go to the vet

EPILEPSY is defined as a neurological disorder characterized by sudden, recurring attacks of muscular, sensory, or psychic malfunction with or without loss of consciousness or convulsive seizures.

A SEIZURE refers to the involuntary contraction of muscles. Seizures can result from abnormal electrical activity in the brain brought on by tumors, blood clots or scar tissue, or from chemical imbalances such as low blood sugar or nerve stimulating drugs. Tetanus toxin poisoning can stimulate muscles to contract resulting in a seizure. A seizure may involve all the skeletal muscles or be localized to spasms in a single bundle of muscles. When we see an athlete fall down, stretch and massage the calf muscle during a muscle cramp… those calf muscles are in a state of seizure due to lactic acid buildup from changes in oxygen availability within the muscle

May have been a seizure. Questions to answer: Has it ever happened before? How did your dog act after?(sluggish, disoriented or slept?) How long did this last?
May need a vet to check,or if you want, can wait to see if this
ever happens again. Vet will run tests, can be pricey. Judgment call on your part.

I would have him examined by the vet. Sounds like a seizure and he may need some meds. Good luck.

it sounds more like a seizure. I'd make a vet appointment to see if they can shed some more light on the subject.

I think it may be epilepsy. My dog has it. Take him to the vet ASAP.

He'll have to go on to a course of drugs like my dog did.
