toy guns ?? I really dislike seeing little boys(usually) playing around pretend shooting with those awful toys . Although i have 4 girls i would never agree to my son having one . Sorry for being a spoilsport its just something that bothers me .. Before anyone has a go , i know most of these little boys won`t end up being criminals etc ..

I agree with you- there would be an outcry if toy scud missiles or bombs were for sale, or even toy mace spray and the these kill and injure people same as guns do. Whatever a person's reason for having a gun, that gun can injure, maim and kill people and I think toy guns have the potential to trivialise this. Guns are intended for violence not play, toys are intended for play not violence and the concept of toys guns contradicts this.
I don't think children grow up into criminals because of toy guns- children don't grow up into soldiers because of toy guns either - I just think guns are horrendous things and they belong in an adult world.

As a parent you have the right to decide what toys your children can and cannot play with.

However, not allowing them to play with guns, because you perceive them to be dangerous, is foolish. Having your children playing with guns will not make them any more dangerous than children that do not play with guns.

Teaching children to be responsible and how to play appropriately with all children and all toys is a far greater lesson.

From an early age I learned to shoot real guns and learned gun safety. I will do the same thing with my children.

There are no guarantees in how your children will grow up based upon what they play with. All you can hope to do is give them a good foundation based upon values, education and good biblical principle.

I would have to say that it is actually important that people know how to use firearms for many reasons. if ever there is a full scale war and there is another draft and someone is drafted without knowledge of how to use a gun, they will be among the first dead, also, if they need to hunt because civilization has been brought almost to an end in the sense of a typical grocery store, and for self protection, if you are walking down a dark alley alone and you get jumped by a guy with a knife, a gun would be very useflu, so, I think you should allow your son to have a toy gun so he can learn to use it, but teach him how to use it safely and properly.

i really do see your point but i know only too well boys and girls will make guns out of anything so it doesn't really matter. i have 3 boys and luckily they're more into cars but if guns were their thing I'd buy it and hate the fact that they play with them.
you can only guide your kids so far but then some turn into monsters and commit the most horrific crimes no matter how good an upbringing they have.

I have two sons, one didn't like any play guns, the other one did. Myself, loved playing with guns as a young boy. I think it's important to let the boy be a boy. Don't be that over bering mommy if you want him to develop into a man one day.

No, no it freaks me out too. I hate to see little boys playing gun games. I took every toy gun that was ever given to my lads and hid them in the attic. the thing was, they just went ahead and played gun games anyway, because all their friends had them!!

I think they are cool. The problem is, is that the people of this country are so easily offended or think everything influences everyone to do the wrong thing. Toy guns will not make a person grow up and be a bad person. It is fun to play with them, they are harmless and if you think that is bad how about all those little girls with dolls? What is up with that? Are the promoting little girls to have sex so they can have little girls of their own at an early age? Come on people of America, why do you think this country is so screwed up? Because of all the whiners. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself. Just like the whiners who don't like what Howard Stern has to say on the radio. Why are they listening if they don't like him?

Toy guns have been around for years,i must say i don,t like them either. But if we take them away from our children they make them out of other things such as -lego,fingers etc.I know this is not the same as toy guns, but kids who play still pretend to kill with them.

I hate them too.. and when I was little I had them. I just can not stand to hear my son say the word die, kill, or anything like that. I bothers me. I know he doesn't think bad things.. it is what he has seen in some cartoons even. But I do agree that it makes me think that he will grow up and really want to shoot someone. He tells me that he wants to be a cop. But he is 5. I know how you feel.
