You don't have to drink alcohol to go out and have fun with your friends. If they are true friends they should understand and accept that you don't like it. I have never been a real big drinker, but I could still go to the bar and have agood time. Actually, what I used to do a lot was just drink plain coke, but I'd act a little bit silly, like I was getting drunk, and most people never knew the difference. I had more fun some of the nights I didn't drink at all because I could blame any thing crazy I did on the 'alcohol' that I wasn't drinking, and I didn't have to worry that I'd get too crazy because I wasn't really drinking.
Going out with your friends should be more about having fun with your friends and less about drinking anyways.

This is how just about everyone starts out. It's all about finding what does taste good. Too often people start drinking whatever they can get their hands on which is usually cheap beer or some other awful bottomshelf liquor.
Have people suggest things that aren't too potent in alcohol content and have a good taste to them to ease you into drinking.
Amaretto Sour is a great one.
Vodka Sour is another.
Rum and Coke can work, if mixed correctly.
Vodka Lemonade is another.
Just ask the bartender for something easy on the palate and they'll help you out.

I actually enjoy the taste of alcohol. Sometimes it's personal preference, other times it's a developed tastes, and most times it's because people mix it in with other drinks, and it causes a change in the state of mind of the individual after consumption. This change of mind is what people are looking for.

well...if you want to experiment with the "buzz" and are not a drinker...try some wine coolers? They're fruity and taste like soda almost...Beer and liquor always have a strong taste but mixed drinks can be sweet or sour depending on what you like.
A lot of girls like margaritas because they can be kinda tasty or piña coladas. Whatever you drink make sure you ask the bar tender to go easy on the liquor (especially because you're not a drinker) and make sure NOT to let them use the "well" liquor because thats the cheapest liquor AND IT WILL get you sick...
ask them about a better quality liquor for your drink (it may be a buck or two more BUT your chances of getting sick will be reduced. Personally I like vodka based drinks (sour/sweet) ones like a Kamakazi, lemon drop, a cosmo etc. I usually ask for grey goose vodka or even kettel one...;) If im luck the bartender does a good job because ---some bartenders make drinks better than others,,,and that makes all the diffrence in the flavor too... have fun and drink slow because if you aren't experienced...you wont know how much can be too much until you've over done it...;) and then its to late to go back---so take it easy, work up to a comfortable level and enjoy a good buzz...

I don't like the taste of most alcohol either, what I normally do is ask the bartender to make me something sweet and fruity. I normally get something that tastes awesome and I have a new drink! Good Luck!

So what ?!?!?! Skip the alcohol - it's way overrated anyhow. You don't have to 'drink' to have fun with friends.
Most establishments will be more than happy to serve you coffee, juice or sodas. At some places a 'designated driver', who is not indulging, can drink for free. Not a bad deal, if you don't care for alcohol.
With a twinkle in your eye, ask the bartender to make you a virgin... cocktail, that is. A good barkeeper will gladly blend you non-alcoholic taste treats. They love being able to show off their creative talents.

bring a bottle of water (and and on the go drink mix packet to make a fruity drink) or try non-alcoholic drinks. If neither of these work for you, alcohol isn't the only drink sold in bars. They should have sodas too.

most biggers bars will offer a choice of none acholoic beverages so try some of them. if you dont like that try frutier drinks that mostly cover up the flavor of alcohol. if you still cant find anything you like to drink then you can always just go with soda or water.
