I have an overbite and I am in the process of getting braces. I am 23. There is nothing wrong with getting braces. Talk to your dentist and see if you have any alternatives. Most orthodontists offer free consultations, so it won't hurt to see what they have to say.

14 isn't late to get braces. You actually want to get them once your teeth are all in and fully erupted so that they can start the process. If you wait too long then your options still require braces and start to include more invasive procedures (sometimes if your overbite is too bad they have to do some surgery on your jaw! yikes.) Obviously your overbite bothers you or you wouldn't be asking about it. Have your parents take you in for a consultation and find out about it. A gorgeous smile lends loads of confidence.

i still have an overbite to this day.
i got a retainer for 2 months when i was 14 too. my dentist thought it would fix it but it never did. anyways after the retainer i got my front teeth fixed with porcelain veneers, and i dont notice my overbite now at all. just focus on having a nice smile, and youll forget about the overbite, no one will notice anyways. either that or braces, but i wouldnt say it would be worth it.

insurance sometimes doesn't pay for orthodonic procedures after age 18 or 19. I know someone who got braces when she was 26 and the insurance didn't pay a dime. Get them now, while you are covered under your parents' insurance. If you wait, you will pay full price most likely.

"Most U.S. dental plans cover children up to age 18, but do not cover adult orthodontics -- or only covers them up to a certain dollar amount. If your plan covers adult braces, consider yourself in the lucky minority"

they regretted their teeth not looking the best
and that they had to have braces after high school
its worse then than now.
