A safe place, one where it is smart and safe to go being a single woman. In a new city where you know NO one. A place to meet Frinds and even guys. Any Ideas? I am moving to Colorado and know no one there... At my job the people are much older than I am and married and dont go out. SO any advice ... anyone?
Thanks

Not a bar!
Shopping is always a good start, go downtown and peruse shops (where guys may go, if thats who you are looking for) food stores, unisex clothes stores, etc.
Join a club or group, maybe a creative writing course or amateur art club.
how about a Gym, or swimming pool or any other leisure facility.
Just had a look at colorado.com, and if you cant meet anyone, then I'll fly over, it looks superb! ;-) (p.s. only joking.....ish!)
Have a look at some websites for the city you are moving to,see if there are any other activities too.

Try places that you would enjoy hanging out. If you like to go to the bars/clubs go there. (For safety, when alone, watch how much you drink and never leave your drink unattended.) If you like to read meet people at bookstores, readings, or book clubs. Meet bikers at bike shops or clubs. For that matter, find any club you would like to join. You will meet people with similar interests. Another great place to meet people is myspace. Create an account (or change your existing one to your new city) and announce that you are moving to the area. You will find plenty of people that would like to help you feel at home. Good luck!

One aspect to consider is your "COMMONALITY." - Do you have a common "link" / "bond" with a group?
A MOST OBVIOUS-link would be in a Church setting, or an Organization that proposes to sponsor or help a (given) cause.
I had direct connections with the National Organization that helps "physically challenged" folks to re-enter the society. - DATEABLE was active around the San Antonio / South central Texas region during the early to middle 1990's.
Returning home, I continued my participation though the BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS Org and the MAKE A WISH Org.
These activities do keep me "involved."

Go to some dance clubs, or a library, or sign up for some community-city type club thing. Go to somem parties or something.. talk to people, don't sweat it.. you can't stay new forever.
