Alcohol is a preservative. In low concentrations as in beer/lager/etc. it's effect as such is negligible, so they can go bad by oxidising, getting infected, and other factors. Whisky, rum, etc., where the alcohol is much more concentrated, does act very well as a preservative. It doesn't go "bad" per se. An open bottle where it's been exposed to air will eventually oxidise...oxygen will react with the components that give the spirit its flavor (particularly whiskies, brandies, and especially tequila) and cause them to deteriroate and leave them not tasting as good as when first opened. An unopened bottle of any spirit will remain good indefinitely as there's essentially no oxygen to react with it.
As such, there's no way to predict when the bottle is opened or just how long it takes for the flavor to deteriorate...even so, it still doesn't go "bad" in terms of going sour or such.

spirits mature with time so the older they are the stronger they are that's why older wines & wiskeys cost more than younger ones
