I fed my 4 1/2 month old some green beans not even half the jar to see how she would react to make sure she isnt allergic and what not, Im not sure exactly how much I should let her eat, but hours later it seemed like she got really gassy is this an allergic reaction or is it maybe to much for her right now, she seems to do good with the other foods this has only happened with green beans and green peas but she seems to really like the green beans or is this just normal??? how much should i be giving her?

I havent given her them since that one time because of the gassiness it seems to only happen with green beans and peas everything else seems good....I will hold off a little longer on giving her those and try them again at a later time......my other question though is how much out of the jar should i give her at a time? should i make it so i get three feedings out of the jar and give it to her once a day...how often during the day should i give her say some carrots or whatever else she likes

It is too early to feed solids to a 4 1/2 month old. Her digestive tract is not fully developed and cannot handle the fibre.

Her digestive tract might just not be ready for those veggies yet.. everybody is different. Hold back on those for a month and then try again.
It does not sound like an allergic reaction, just a digestive problem.
And no its not too early to give solids.. peds say to start at 4-6 month, if child shows ready signs (shows interest in food, sits with very little assistance, is hungry more often)
here a few websites about it

41/2 months might be to early. Remeber doctor's are taught in general terms, each child is diffrent. Green veggies can cause gas so try introducing some carrots in small portions.Have you done the infant cereals? That is always a great start and helps them sleep thru the night better.

It means her intestines are not ready for solid foods yet. The AAP suggest waiting until 6 months before starting solid foods for this very reason.
There are several website out there available to you as a resource. I suggest googling a few and use them as guidelines. Avacados are a pretty good 1st food to try. I think trying the green beans 1st was a good idea, though, instead of fruits. I did all the veggies 1st so she wouldnt get hooked on the sweetness of fruit and then refuse veggies.
Good Luck.

Well my first thought is you can NEVER spoil an infant... but from the sounds of it, I guess you have a smart little baby! I don't think the problem is really spoiling though... I think that you have misconceptions about what it takes to care for an infant. Please, no offense meant, but infants need care and attention all the time. They aren't toddlers yet. Toddlers can start to eat by themselves, or read books, or "play." But an infant doesn't do that yet... basically the first year is total hands on for the caregiver... unless the baby is napping. My suggestion is to continue giving your baby unending attention and love and as he gets closer to 1 year old and you start to see him doing things on his own, then start to teach him that its "mommy time," etc. So in the meantime... work hard during naps, and work later at night... also, keep trying to find some help during the day. Or you could put him in daycare, just one or 2 days. It won't hurt him... it will actually help him learn to play by himself or with other babies better. And try to find a "mom's group" who share "babysitting times." Good luck!

Green veggies are hard to digest. They also are a leading cause of gas! I would hold off on the green veggies a bit or in lesser amounts.

Green vegetables tend to be major gas makers. That's why cucumbers are sometimes referred to as "burpers". I'd say cut down on the green beans for now until she can tolerate them better.

This is why you aren't supposed to give anything but breastmilk or formula to a baby under 6 months. Their digestive systems are not ready for it.
