hmm, this is an unusual complaint. I would usually say that the bird is molting but if it isnt chirping, I have a hunch that yur bird has parasites. Parasites cause yur bird to lose feathers and they are inactive. Take it to the vet so you can get some antibiotics to treat yur bird

a bird that looks puffed up and sitting with both feet on its perch is sick . Keep it in a warm place and make sure it has clean water and seed, maybe a piece of fruit or vegetable like spinach.
Plucking feathers can be boredom or it might have a scaley mite. You can often see mites as a scale near the beak. If that is occuring a little mineral oil applied with a cotton bud will cure it.
A birds temperature is very high , so keep it warm. You can cover the cage to help keep the bird quiet.
It will usually get better in a few days or it will die.
If it does die , wash the cage and toys in very hot water and a disinfectant and wait a few weeks before getting another bird.

Yes, if she is loosing her feathers than that is a sign. My grandma's bird kept on looseing its feathers. About 6-8 months after my grandma died the bird also died. Try putting it in a place where it is about room temperature or a little bit warmer. If she does not churp that is also a sign of dieing. You should take her to a vet a.s.a.p. as soon as possible. I wish you and your parakeet good luck.

You might want to ask a vet. But there is also a possibility that it has gone into a shedding phase, where all the feathers come of, i mean all. It usually happens around winter and spring, but this is just a possibility. I reccomend seeing a vet.

Take the bird to a vet, it might be sick, or it might be depressed, and is plucking his feathers. If the vet ok's it try getting it a mate, so it has something to play with....Plus if you are gone a lot during the day, it will get depressed.

please take your bird to an avian certifed vet asap! (find one near you here: www.aav.org/vet-lookup ) this is really bad and if you can't schedule an appointment, then take her to an emergency clinic because this is serious. birds hide their symptoms because in the wild, they are prey. if they show symptoms of being sick, they will be targeted for food by predators. you really need to pay attention to little things, like not eating as she usually does (like not eating her favorites or not as much) her poops being a different color/texture, not being as vocal or not playing as much etc. it sounds to me you don't really have much respect for living animals, because these are obviously signs that something is seriously wrong. if you think she is "going to go" why don't you try and save her by taking her to a vet?!

puffed up feathers means that it is having trouble regulating its temperature. take it to the vet to figure out why.

she could be ill, or just molting. have you notice a change in eating habits or in stools? alot of time when ill they will just sit at the bottom of the cage also, is she perching? but keep a close eye on her as they dont show many signs untill they are really feeling ill.
