I don't bother with it. I clean up my own messes and would like others to do the same. I'll recycle if its economically feasible and throw stuff away if its not.
I actually don't think its humanly possible to either destroy or save the planet.

Some interesting answers. I have been an environmentalist for 15 years. I work in developing countries as an environmental educator and marine conservationist. I try to raise awareness on issues such as reducing our waste (better than recycling if we can do it), taking personal responsibility and leaving enough for future generations to live happily and well. I think people's awareness has improved alot - especially in places like the UK with recycling schemes everywhere (they are great, but I have to say don't tackle the ROOT issue - reducing our waste in the first place) and cycle paths being made more accessible. But, when I go home and talk to my friends, noone really cares. I feel we have really lost touch with our connections to the Earth. Where I work in Indonesia people have to earn money and at the minute that means chopping down forests for chilli farming. They slash and burn and then move on. I understand this need - we need to find sustainable alternatives for them. But, they are chopping down forests directly above their homes and when it rains again, the whole lot will slide down the mountainside and engulf their houses. They can't make the connection and are also without other choices. Anyway, I go on! I am really really bothered about protecting our planet and try to do as much as I can - I alter my lifestyle - (my worse thing is air travel and I am thinking of giving that up too), I often get down about people's views and attitude about the environment 'it's someone else's problem', but I continue and even if people do a little recycling and have an allotment, then that's a good start - keep it up and tell everyone about it!

Apart from the usual, recycling, walking or cycling, home cooking, turning off some lights and turning down the thermostat, switching to green energy suppliers, selling your humvy or other tank, taking public transport, switching everything off at the plug socket when not in use, writing to your local council re their efforts, etc., etc., ........... Millions are doing such stuff all around the world.
Something more satisfying? Here's an example: http://www.sandoh.org.uk .
The message is don't worry if you can't swallow the apple, keep taking small bites. So many people, each doing a little, amounts to a hell of a lot.
You could try this as well: http://www.foe.co.uk/resource/briefings/corporate_conquest.pdf?ic_number=971244&m_sourcecode=TDGTAWELE
Oxfam are great for online campaigns that are easy to participate in and dont take a lot of your time, and you can choose what concerns you the most.
Keeping your eyes on the culprits and telling others, raising discussions like this one, these are the most valuable things of all. So thanks for paying attention and good luck with your efforts. They are not wasted.

i cycle to work and recycle things
but i must tell you
if you ask google for tax free cycle you can get your tax back off your new cycle
look there is only one way we the people can make a defence
is to vote green in may election
don't vote Tory or labour as they are both the same
you have to change the people at the top to make a difference
we the people can save a can, bottle and small bags
but only the man or woman at the top can make car makers , shop more earth friendly
did you know the local pub throw more bottle away in one week then i do in a year ! so stop them and make pub's, club's recycle too
then we might just keep this planet going
if you had 10p for each can, bottle you gave back to tesco
then kids might not throw it down in the street
you would collect as much as you can for pocket money
and the shop can send them back to the factory to be recycled
all the best to you all and please recycle

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leadersuse it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

I think loads of peopel are but the governement are so SLOW they don't realise that if they provide us with the means to save the planet, we'll do it. They may think we don't care and taht it's all up to them but they couldn't be more wrong.
Man I hate those guys.
I can do very little to recycle because my nearest recycling station only accepts brown glass and paper. Absolutely nothing else. Life sucks.

We can all do a bit. I live in a but of a green enclave where we voted two green councillors onto the local council. We have a kerbside recycling scheme and a streetlight just outside our place has been replaced with an energy efficient one. My point is that with a little bit of effort and a few sacrifices we can show that we are more intelligent than yeast.

I cycle to work too. We recycle and we're looking at growing our own veggies.
What I'd really like to do is get solar and wind power going to power a micro fuel cell generator with hydrogen, cutting my energy bills to near zero. I doubt the Council would grant planning permission though.

properly, no longer addressing the "international warming isn't shown"... i think of you're no longer on the objective record of persons who relatively need to shop power. looks such as you haven't any longer completed a lot to break the planet. you ought to no longer have a lot to sense responsible approximately. All you're doing now to recycle and so forth., you are able to think of of as extra. solid environmental karma kudos stacking up for you. consistent with possibility the planet does owe you. I agree. the great funds advertisers and polluters are the actual criminals. those men ought to truly no longer sleep at nighttime. (Tho i'm confident they do...) Like what's Trump doing for the planet? Dumping megatons of CO2 with all his casinos and so forth...he's almost a polluting device. each and every now after which he throws the earth or the poor a charitable crumb. even though it relatively is a drop interior the bucket whilst in comparison with the wear and tear he's in charge for. As for you, get heat and toasty and get some solid sleep certainly one of those long nights.

We recycle everything that we can, try to turn off lights etc, do what we can really
