How big are medium-sized plum tomatoes?

I'm using a recipe that calls for plum tomatoes, but I don't have any. I was just going to use regular tomatoes, but I'm not sure how many I should use. I'm supposed to use 8 plum tomatoes.

plum tomatoes are small. You can use 3-4 regular tomatoes to subsitiute for 8 plum tomatoes.

About the same as a good-sized plum!

I would say about golf ball size.
