I read this today in the 'Lake County News-Herald',(Ohio):

'The German Shepherd now known as Hero recently saved the life of a Georgia woman whose car had
careened down an embankment.
Hero had wondered off from his owners, who have signed him over to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society because he kept doing exactly that, when he happened upon a 36 year old woman, bruised and battered on her vehicle's trunk after losing control on a curve.
He pulled her by her shirt collar about 50 yards through briars to the highway and let her lean against him so she could signal a passing motorist Jan. 26.
"That dog is always going to have a place in my heart.",The woman said.

The article did not say if Hero now has a new home or not.

I read that some search and rescue group were going to see if Hero could be trained properly for Search and Rescue. The lady that he saved couldn't take him because she already owns 6 dogs. I really hope that someone takes him in and gives him a GREAT home, he deserves it!!
