There are religious scientists. The earth is already in for certain destruction on about 2 billion years as the sun goes to red giant stage.

I don't think this has any bearing on the religious. I feel if humans were to have a chance to explore or move off this plant, they would take they chance to go. There is no conflict to explore the heavens of the earth and to believe in a Master God. After all, God created the heavens and earth and man is to learn about himself, and to go forth and explore his man made realm. That also includes the outer universe of God. It is how God has made us, has given up the curiosity to explore. Once you are in space God still exists and still needs to be prayed to. It would be in fact, the commandment of God to set forth and procreate, once the earth is full don't stop there, move out into the space and keep his commandments. Earth or Space it is all his.

I don't want you freakin' humans leaving Earth, why do you think I invented gravity to begin with? So you guys wouldn't bother me while I'm reading the paper or on the phone or doing all things I like to do. So yeah, the religious would obey me and stay on Earth.

Praise me, amen.

I believe the religious are Earth-bound until they suffer asphyxiation (which is what all humans suffer from during the dying process).

No, since the planet belongs to God, we know God would still provide for us in a supernatural way. Read Genesis chapter 1, when the world was in chaos and turmoil God renewed it through the Holy Spirit and caused it to flourish again.

Unless it was specifically in doctrine, I think they would be ok to leave. Of course they do say that only the good die young (but many times that is because they have not lived long enough to be bad.)

They would have to change the Lords Prayer to:

your kingdom come,
your will be done
on Mars as it is in heaven.
