Flan is a spanish dessert, a custard with carmelized sugar at the bottom of the pan. When served the custard is flipped upside down and the residue liquid sugar runs off.

Quiche is main dish coming from france. It is made from a prebaked dough, filled with eggs, vegetables, fish(shrimp, et.)and the most popular is with bacon and cheese. It is usually served with a small salad.

I hope this helps.

Okay, I was forced to comment. Flan has no crust. And being a custard, it is mainly egg. The difference between it and quiche is that flan is a sweet, a desert. Quiche never is, usually containing savory ingredients such as mushrooms, spinach, bacon, cheese, etc. And quiche has a traditional pie crust. Pie can have a custard filling, meaning it is filled mainly with something made from eggs, but it differs from flan and quiche in that it need not contain eggs. In fact, pie is the most flexible thing you are asking us to define. It doesn't even have to have a traditional pastry crust. It can have a crushed cookie crust, for example.

Oh dear....

The difference is the filling. A Quiche is always made with an egg based filling, whereas a flan can have almost any filling...as in fruit!

A Quiche for breakfast...Really???

Flan and quiche are nothing alike, other than made with egg (along with thousands of other recipes).

Flan is more similar to custard or creme brulee, quiche is like a baked egg pie with your choice of fillers (spinach, ham, cheese, etc)

Some savoury egg flans are quiches in all but the name.

The biggest similarity is that both of their main ingredients are eggs.
Flan is dessert, a baked custard. It is similar to creme brulee but without the crisp sugar topping, and is usually accompanied by a caramel sauce.
Quiche is a savory dish. It's kind of like an omelet in a crust, and filled with things like bacon, ham, spinach, and cheese.
Bacon quiche sounds good. I'll have to give it a try one day!
