Ah, I wish I could say that I've not not done things that a "good Christian" wouldn't do, Elflock. Unfortunately, I've said many things to my children in the heat of anger, that I shouldn't have said. I tend to yell first, and regret later. I haven't said those words because I nerver grew up hearing or saying them. But I have said plenty, that I wished I hadn't. Now, what you really must say, is, "I'm really sorry I said that. It wasn't kind, and I don't want you to talk that way. Will you please forgive me?" Then go back to the issue at hand. Your child still must listen to you, and you must insist, upon penalty of consequences, that he/she does. Often, if he/she wasn't able to hear me say, "It is time to wash the dishes," I repeat that it is time to wash the dishes and sweep the floor. Suddenly the child who hadn't heard me remembers that I had ONLY said to wash the dishes before. You see how sudden hearing loss can improve? That sudden improvement doesn't void the new consequence. And now we have a lying issue to deal with. Whew, being a mom is tough. No wonder we lose it sometimes.

If you are implying that this is what God does or will do, you evidently don't know what the Bible says on the subject. And your comparison is not valid.
Here's a better comparison: Jack has two sons, James and Harry. James is a good son but Harry is a drug user and dealer. Harry is kidnapped and in order to free him Jack sent James with the ransom, knowing that James may be killed instead. James is killed; Harry is free. Jack pleads with Harry to come home. Harry refuses to listen to Jack, and chose to follow his accustomed lifestyle. Harry runs into more serious difficulty again. Is it fair to blame Jack?

I know this girl whose family does that. This girl's little brother got a dollar for allowance and she told him that a dime of that money would be going in the collection plate. He refused to give up part of his allowance, so their mother said that he would burn in hell if he didn't do it.
That would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Nahh...just to time out for five minutes. After that, he picks up his toys and we get along fine.

No! I definitely would have noticed that one ;)
I raised my children to be able to speak their minds ,they had the right to their opinion and I agreed or disagreed with them . As long as it was done respectfully .no problems.
