Committment? LOTS of SERIOUS answers needed please!?

I just got out of a relationship so I am not really looking to go straight into another relationship, especially one like my last one. My last one was too serious too fast, and there was a lot of emotional abuse going on. I have been sort of dating this guy recently and he is such a gentleman. He is so nice to me and he treats me so great, but I am worried that he will never look for a real relationship with me. Like I said, I do not want to get into another relationship right now, but I would like to be able to have the possiblity open if the time arises. He is going off to college this year not too far away from me, an hour and a half maybe. (he already lives an hour away from me so distance is not a big deal). I don't really want to just be upfront with him about it in fear of scaring him away because from what I have heard most guys are just "looking to have fun" and do not want committment. I really like this guy, and I am not

well, it looks like you need to give him some time to think. like you said, you didnt like the other guy who wanted it serious sudden. approach him calmly, and give him some time to think about what you're asking him. yes, there are lots of guys in this world that just want fun and no committment. but if he is a gentleman, maybe he's different. you said hes going to college and that's a LOT of stress. dont add on to his stress and catch him at a relaxed time to tell him your feelings. good luck girl!

Well, I say wait a while before you do anything. I am a guy, and I am looking for committment more than just fun. So don't judge all guys the same. Trust me, there are a few guys out there, you just have to choose wisely, or wisely let them choose you.

I think I know why your last relationship was too serious too fast. I'm an expert at NOT SERIOUS, and you are headed right for it, unless he has the good sense to stop you. You over think, over emote, and probably over do.

So, slow down, enjoy your time with him but quit putting yourself so far into the future with him and probably everything else. Just get to know him, play, enjoy the moment.

Well, if he doesn't want commitment and you scare him away because of that, is that really the kind of guy you want?

But I agree, it's generally a bad idea to go into another relationship too quickly.

Tell him how you feel. You'll never know unless you take the chance. Speculating about the reply is just going to give you anxiety and sleepless nights. Go for it.

i think youll be lucky to get a guy that is that gentle and caring. you should keep seeing this guy and make sure youre not pushed to do anything you dont want to. get to no him even more and be sure hes genuine and ask him out on a date and see his response.
