We can't say who will go to hell. We can only tell you what you need to do for salvation. I didn't make the rules, God did.

There ARE branches of Christianity
(condemned by other branches, be it noted)
Which declare belief in an universal salvation.
This can either depend on a fundamental belief in the goodness of God, or postulate a post-death encounter with Jesus, where a final realisation and reconciliation can take place.
This does require taking a number of bible verses at other than their face value, and could be argued to represent wishful thinking, depicting the Christian faith as people would like it to be rather than how it is.
Another variation in theology is to maintain that what awaits the non-Christian after death is extinction, not never-ending pain and punishment. This is perhaps a little better grounded in the texts, but still does not represent the majority mainstream belief and teaching for thousands of years, that those who reject Christianity are lost and in hell.

You ask as if it's a personal choice. If you believe in the Christian God and you believe the Bible is the word of God, isn't it arrogant and selfish of you not to read the word as He wrote it? Those who believe that certain people will be eternally punished do so based on the writings of Bible, not necessarily a vindictive attitude. If you don't like that some people may burn in hell for eternity, talk to God and Jesus, not the people following him.
Of course, there are other options:
1) The authors of the the Bible wrote their own personal feelings and opinions into their writings, not God's.
2) There are no gods or deities and the Bible is manmade and man- (or woman-) inspired, just like every single other document out there.
3) It doesn't matter what gods or deities think, we should all act nice to each other.

IF you love Christ Jesus, you will also understand that God's Ways are not ours.
Yes, it is horrible that people will go to Hell for all eternity, BUT that judgment and decision; of who is or is not going to Hell is up to God ALONE.
If someone believes only part of what Christ Jesus, the Bible and Torah teach; they do not truly have faith ..... do they?
It is heart wrenching to know that someone in your circle of friends or a member of your own family might go to hell; but should you also lose your eternal soul .... by turning your back on God as well?

One who is a true Christian not only loves Christ puts all of his trust and faith in Him. He is His word also. You cannot edit the Bible to suit how you think God should run things. It is the way He says it is to be. Do you have faith enough to believe that He knows best, even though it does not make sense to you? His ways are beyond understanding. None of us "deserve" heaven, yet thru faith in Jesus finished work on the cross, we gain entry into heaven. God gives everyone the same choice, belief or unbelief. Not by works can anyone be saved. Faith alone. Read the Bible, pray for your unbelieving friends and trust in a God who is 100% perfect, holy, sovereighn and desires(wishes) all to come to a saving knowledge of Him. I will be praying for you!

What I WANT to believe isn't the issue. The issue is...what does the Bible say? It says Christ is the only way so it leaves MY opinion out of it. If you are not a christian...I would say ...don't worry about it. Go on with your life and live in peace with everyone as best you can. It's your immortal soul that is at stake and no one will answer for you but you. Just as no one will answer for me but me. What I believe is of no consequence to what the truth is. So who cares what I believe? If you comfort yourself at night by not believing the Bible...then do so. The truth will be revealed eventually and if I'm wrong in believing the Bible...then I'm wrong. If there is nothing...then my consequence is nothing literally. But If the Bible is right then for you the consequence could be much higher. Good luck and God bless.

You should study Christian theology. Traditional Christianity has always maintained that hell (whatever it is) is reserved for the wicked - not for 'unbelievers' or 'non-Christians.' Nobody goes to hell for not believing in Jesus. Many ancient theologians (like Origen) believed in Universalism, or the idea that every human being would be saved.
As a Christian, you don't even have to believe in hell. In the Bible, hell is ALWAYS an allegory - it never describes hell as a literal place.

This draws us closer to Christ for Christ is our only redeemer. The closer our relationship with Jesus the more we can see how wicked and depraved we really are. And we love more and more what Jesus did for us so that we could live life eternally with an Awesome God!
You must understand that no one is good except God Himself. All have fallen short of the glory of God. All have sinned. No one is righteous before a Holy God. God demands perfection to enter His Kingdom. We are not. That is why through His loving kindness , God became one of us and died on the cross to redeem us from our offenses (sins) against His Holiness.
What more do people want God to do for them? I think that people are so self-righteous in their own eyes that they think that they do not need a Savior to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. But God says that no one is good.
Those that reject God, wouldn't want to spend eternity with Him serving and worshiping Him. Hell is chosen for those who do not want forgiveness of their offenses against God. Ask around. See who really wants to die to themselves to become alive for Christ.

Maybe you should forget about hell and religion and concentrate on getting to know God in a personal way, by first accepting Him as the One who can handle all your worries. Believe in Jesus and He will do the rest to complete His work in you.As for your family and friends you can do more by praying for them than you can do by worrying. If you have Jesus you wouldn't be obsessed with hell.

If truly love God then you will find peace in your heart and the thought of hell will not bother you. People who truly God do not think of going to hell and are not bothered by it, because they know they are secure in their relationship. And, if you truly love God then God will use you to reach those same friends. This is the very reason God calls people out of the world, so they can be intercessors and pray for their friends and families. I used to worry about my friends and families going to hell, but then The Lord began to show me because of my persistent prayers He was going to save my family. God is a God of life, not damnation. In some people are in hell because there is no one who cared enough to show love to them.

Heaven will be a place without sin. Sin will not exist. We will not even recall a world wherein it exists. One that has not been forgiven cannot be there. We cannot earn that salvation. It is a gift freely given of God.
Ephesians 2:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
As to who's there and who isn't that's Christ's call and I will wholeheartedly welcome all who enter. ALL who enter.
