My male 2 year old cat is very sweet. Loves attention and to be around humans. The only thing is when ever i pet him he lays down and then i try to pet him more. When i pet him while he is laying down he tries to bite me or claw me. I dont rub him bellie just his head and back if that helps any.

Cats are like humans. Certain cat enjoy being rubbed at different spots on the body. Carrie, my cat has the same disdain for her tummy to be rubbed. She's ticklish but can't understand the feeling. Her head, back, tail chin are OK but touch her tummy, expect a bite.

I have a 1/2 Bengal male about the same age. He just gets moody. He likes to play rough. Then there are times when he is a doll. I have treated him like one of the kids though and he does get scolded. If I tell him not so rough he actually backs off a little and eases off the biting. But it just sounds like your typical male cat.

This is a natural reaction to being petted, cats just don't realise being clawed or bitten hurts us. Maybe it's better not to continue touching him once he's laid down.

that is a form of how cats, especially younger ones, play with one another...if you watch kittens together they paw and nip at each other, it won't ever really hurt if he gets you,,,if you want him to stop use a spray bottle of water and get him on the nose when he acts out...

That's just his way of playing. If he nips at you, kinda (gently) pop him on the nose, and stop playing with him. This will eventually teach him that's not the way you want to play.

He's playing. Don't bop him with your hand (as suggested). Just raise your voice with a loud "no" when he bites.
