Why would God slay his only begotten son for my supposed sins? Why create sin at ALL? Should he have to prove himself in text if he exists? I certainly don't believe he (she, it) would create humankind so that everyone can try to live up to him and fail. Do you think a god-figure would accept only believers, regardless of their bad deeds? Wouldn't he (she, it) open paradise to all and sundry? From the beginning.

I was reported for my original post of this question. A number of answerers seemed to find my question worthy of a diagnosis, so let me be straight: I am not depressed or despairing. I am also not being hostile, but I do find that is an accusation made often when someone does not have an answer. I am agnostic. I believe there may very well be an energy in this world that is beyond our knowledge. I am also a humanist. Would my serving humankind compassionately and respectfully not be "enough" for ANY god?

These are honest inquiries. How can I believe in a god that would send me to some hell no matter my actions and deeds here on earth if I didn't believe he existed? Would my being kind and humane amount to nothing if it wasn't done in his name?If the only way to get to heaven is to believe, I would imagine there'd be murderers and child molesters and terrorists in abundance there. That is not heaven to me. My heaven is the people I love and am well-loved by. My purpose is to live my life on earth with as much empathy and kindness as possible. There are bad days, mind you, but most of them are wonderful.

PRECAUTION: The following are responses to questions asked of me by responders in my previous (removed) question:

I am saying that no god would ever need to prove himself or herself or itself to humankind, nor would we need to prove ourselves to him/her/it. This denotes arrogance. I have read much of the Bible. I find not accepting God like not taking antibiotics a flawed supposition.

Arguing that point would be a waste of time as it doesn't answer the question. My point was that there wouldn't need to be a heaven if we were designed flawlessly. Perhaps I wasn't clear in my initial question and for that I apologize. I meant that paradise would be open to all and sundry because if we were a perfect design, hate and evil would not exist.
Maliciousness doesn't help anyone's position. I would love to give best answer to someone who responds to my questions kindly and intelligently. As the term God has become one defined with human characteristics (Him, for example) then no, I do not believe in it. I'm not telling anyone "how" their god should be. I am saying that humanity is blessed with the good people in it; by those that strive for peace and whose actions are compassionate and done for a love of humanity. And yes, I am honestly asking for an answer to these questions - perhaps it would help me to better understand the belief system.

EMUCOM: Thanks for the 'young' comment! Been awhile. I understand Pascal's Wager. It is statistically quite true, but it doesn't account for the fact that if a god is perfect, he/she/it would have no use for a heaven and hell.

Einstein did NOT believe in I.D.

Here's a good explanation for Intelligent Design:

God, their unknowable super-being, somehow glues together the universe by unspecified and unknowable means.

> How exactly does intelligent design work
Michael Behe says that eukaryotic organisms incorporate structures and systems that are so complex that it would be difficult to imagine that they would have evolved. "Systems of irreducible complexity" which don't have a function unless all of the parts are in the right places and working perfectly.

> Why would God slay his only begotten son for my supposed sins?
Maybe a bargain with the fallen angel troop. I don't know. Beats me.

> Why create sin at ALL?
Might have something to do the the fallen angels.

> Should he have to prove himself in text if he exists?
Hard to believe in something that isn't evident to senses or instruments.

> Do you think a god-figure would accept only believers
In the Book of Revelations, the nonbelievers get judged according to their actions on Judgment Day. The bad ones get chucked into a lake of fire. Presumably, the good ones go to heaven.

> Would my serving humankind compassionately and respectfully not be "enough" for ANY god?
It would be good enough for any compassionate god. You wouldn't make points with the god that the Aztecs worshiped that demanded regular human sacrifices.

Young agnostic, you ask many questions. Go to wikipedia and look up "Pascal's Wager."

The question of hell belies all that is supposedly godly. Until such time that christianity sorted that out, I will not accept their Jesus.

Einstein believed in intelligent design...that's what an evolutionist told me (then I verified it).
