This kitten NEVER eats ANY dry food, no matter what kind, even kitten chow or the best other kibbles or bits....
If you test him for three days, he won't eat anything, but starts begging....
If you mix the kibble with warm water and soak it a bit,,,Voila! He eats....
Thought it might be a teeth problem, but now sure it's not.
Anyone seen this before?? Comments? Suggestions?
Yes, he eats canned food or table treats (chicken pieces &c).
All my cats have plenty fresh water, refreshed twice daily, at least.
Dishes are washed after use same as for humans.

Dry food is a human convenience and not a natural food for a cat who are meat eaters and don't need any grains or vegetables to be properly nourished. That's if you use a QUALITY canned meat - not Friskies, Whiskas, Fancy Feast or Science Diet which all use by-product meat.
You can go to www.catinfo.org for information on a species appropriate diet for your kitty. Also at www.littlebigcat.com Dr. Jean Hovfe has two articles titled "Why Cats Need Canned Food" and "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food" to give you guidelines on finding a proper commerciall food for your cat.

Lol, that's one picky cat, but then again, what cat isn't finicky? That's kind of weird that he won't eat for 3 days though if only given dry food. Maybe it is a dental issue. It may be painful for your cat to eat dry food if his teeth haven't fully come in yet. I would go to the vet asap and make sure there isn't a more serious issue. Some cats, like people, have sensitive teeth/gums. Ever try to bite down on a cookie or something the day after a root canal? I wouldn't eat for 3 days either if that's all I had to eat and was in that much pain.

He's finicky. It's a famous cat term...he is a finicky eater who refuses to eat anything but his wet food.
What I am concerned with, is your testing him for three days...that's a very worrisome thought, that a kitten is going without food 3 days to try to convert him to dry food.
Instead, might I suggest you try this?
Give him a small amount of dry food, but mix it with the wet. Then, as time goes by, mix in more and more dry food, day by day.
Eventually, just lightly coat the dry food with wet food and he will continue eating.
The hope is that with time, he will become accustomed to dry food.
Part of your issue may be due to his age. If he's very young, he won't be able to eat dry food. Typically, kittens under 4 months have issues with eating dry food.
Go slow, take your time and convert him the easy way.
I really do hope this helps. He sounds like a cute, finicky cat.
Good luck!
:o)

Sounds like he has worms, probably coccidia, it's very common in kittens. I am a vet tech, and see this quite often, he needs a fecal check, and meds. Your vet should've told you to bring it in for a fecal rather than change the food. Also if you have recently had a fecal check, get ANOTHER one, worms can come up suddenly, or be over looked. Good luck!

I have a 5year old cat who ONLY eats moist cat food. I tried dry, he will not touch it, even with a little water. I've learned that cats have their preferences too!
