I don't like these answers, try spraying your hands with this stuff called Apple Bitter or Yuck. It tastes terrrible to kitty. (bitter) but it won't hurt them

I really do feel for you. My cat does the same thing out of excitement. I have to wear knee high socks to walk around the house. I tried a spray bottle but she loves it ? The most effective so far is a rolled up newspaper. Don't hit her, just slap it on your leg to make noise. Talk friendly as you do it, remember what she's trying to do is greet you & tell you how happy she is to see you. Later, just seeing the paper laying around or in your hand will bluff her. Good luck. My cat jumps like she's on a trampoline while I'm on the computer biting my wrist each time. I show her the rolled up paper & she lay down by my feet.

Cats use a usually gentle bite as a sign of affection with each other and humans. They usually won't do this to humans they do not know or humans who are not being friendly at that moment.
My cats do not initiate this but do it gently when I pet and touch them with friendliness.
I would suggest greeting your cat with vocalizations (other sensory direction, alternative of greeting).
Do NOT initiate TOUCHING when you return. Your cat is HAPPY to see you and likes you very much, may be he likes you better because he's a male and you are not. Yes, that is a factor.
Does he get let outside? Does he get exercise?
If he is not altered eventually, some other male problems may develop, like scent marking. Altering is cheap for male cats.
But I do not think it will relate to this problem very much, possibly a little.
Experienced I am, but not high expert.
Chief suggestion: Carry a TREAT in your pocket. Give it to him with vocal greeting when you return.

Please don't hit your cat as some of the others have suggested. The next time he bites you, yell as if you are injured and in severe pain. It will startle him. It shouldn't take more than a time or two of this and he should stop.

You can either:
1. Bite him back
2. Spray him with water
3. Give him a (not too hard but not too soft) slap on the butt and say NO BITING!!
4. Tap him on the nose. But not too hard.

Don't be afraid to discipline your cat. I know some families who run around with little water-sprayers and spray the cat when it does something wrong, it might be easier just to spank it (that's what we did to get our cat to stop walking up on the table.)

I'd bite it back but she's really furry.
I hate cats...unfortunatly I live with one
spray it with water and say NO BITING
this cat hates water and as soon as she sees the water bottle she runs...
