"""First off depending on the type of bird, it might not be able to be tamed (Lovebirds, finch, etc.) If you have a bird you think you can tame you have to show the bird that you are the alpha person not it... get a dish cloth and throw it over the bird, wrap the towel around the bird and hold it so that it's head is revealed... this shows the bird you have control and no matter that it does it can't hurt you.... This is also a good method if you are clipping it's wings or nails. Also if it does bite you, you can't pull away, keep your finger there... I know this sounds crazy but if you show weakness the bird will sense it. """

ok to what you said that lovebirds and finches cant be tamed love birds can be tamed. and im quite sure finches also can be but ive never had a finch.
best thing to do is make them trust you. sit near the cage give them treats and just leave your hand in the cage and coax them onto your hand with a treat but dont move your hand just let them sit on it. then let them out of there cage feed them treats make them feed comftable.open the cage door let them come out at there own pace. dont force them out.ect.
food food food they love food. so bribe them with food. talk nice and softly to them ect.
oh and when they bite just act normal. when they bite and you do nothing no reaction they genrally stop biting. they love to see reactions,
alrighty thats all that i can be bothered saying
catch

Do you know what kind of birds you have? This is important to know.
You can find several really good sites for raising and training birds but you will need the bird breed to get the specifics. You can even go to the library in your town and get books on the subject.
From experience I can tell you that training a bird to 'step up' onto your finger takes time and dedication. But if you use your head and stick to a regime of training you can do it. It's very rewarding when your bird follows your command.
Good luck.

first off to linz never towel a bird it makes them more scared not less and it makes it harder for them to trust you. all you can do is try to handle the bird once it comes out of the cage. i've found that treats help quite a bit. some birds are just naturally fearful. i had a budgie that never did get to be picked up but we loved him all the same. for the biting use a firm no and don't pull away from them or they figure that they are the one in charge.

Keep putting your finger near it. If it tries to bite you, quickly move your finger out of reach but not so that it scared the birds. Push your finger against their legs and they might learn to hop onto it.
After that, keep trying until it isn't as afraid.

first of all ,, were they bought as babies or adults ? and if they were used as a breeder set? if not breeders , you can start by putting you hand in the cage not touching then but talking in a low voice to them with your hand in their cage for a few days gradually work closer to then and always say to the step up. they will learn but you have to work with them regularly and no sudden movements .
