Jealously and ego...that is all. Some people have some serious self image problems. After the end of a relationship they can get worse, because it will re-enforce a negative self-image. To battle this the person will do some silly and sometimes out right crazy things. Most get over it in time....Good luck.

Tell her that you know you are out of bounds in asking but your psyche feels a need to ask, then ask her what "making things right with her means". A female, whether she's single or has a bf or this is her bf now, NEVER accepts outright money from a man. It suggests impropriety. Now if she asked him for a loan for school, there is a contract, and she intends to pay him back and does, then that's an entirely different story. However he may be trying to convince her of something, he may have her on his mind all during the repayment of any money, etc. Does she understand this? And does she understand that this bothers you? Communication is the best thing. But if you don't get a good answer (that you feel comfortable with) then assume the two of you are not an item. Usually when people go off to college they break off any attachments because they will be meeting new people and ties get in the way.

Because it is not natural to watch someone you love move on and leave you behind.
It sucks. It hurts and some people can't deal with it. Especially if they were very emotionally involved and loved you.
This world is so messed up that people just move from one girl/guy to the next, one marriage to the next. And some people just expect their ex to get up and accept it and get on with their life. Some ex's never recover.

when someone breaks up with you, you are hurt, you probably didn't want the relationship to end. They reflect on the good times, & say things like " but he seemed happy, or she seemed happy, then when they see that person with someone else, it is like, ok, they can be happy with them, why not me? The way that you look at it is that the new girlfriend or boyfriend is getting all that good stuff that they just recently took from them. It is part of the healing process I guess.

Probably cos they haven't moved on themselves anddon't like their ex for getting over them. Or they may still have feelings for them.

Because people dont realize what they had until its gone
Sometimes people break off relationships because they know that they have other priorities
Its not an issue of jealously but an issue of insecurity
