When we adopted our tabby, he was rail thin. Now he's quite a bit heavier. We have the suspicion that the neighbors may be feeding him, although we don't set a limit to what we feed him. He is very active. However that has some downsides too, he loves to kill and eat, particularly rodents and birds. Maybe he isn't overweight, just healthy, but he seems to have lost his once great figure. Are we too critical?

1. You feed him
2. Aparently he finds other food to, perhaps, since he goes out
3. Is he neutered? They gain after that.
4. Maybe you are a little too critical. I mean my cat is a little fat too, but I think he looks great!

I have a tabby also that is 3 years old and she weighs 23 lbs. I have been told that she may have a thyroid problem. Check with your vet to see if that may also be possible with your cat. Or maybe Tabbys are just large, heavy cats.

If you recently got him nuetered, cats and dogs, after spayed/nuetered usally gains alot of weight.Exersize and feeding doesn't even have anything to do with it in most cases.Check sites for more info.

Has it been spayed or neutered? That alone will turn your cat into a fat cat.
