The best way that I know to answer this question is basically look at it like this. View payment like you would if you were going out with a friend for the night. You would cover your own costs and the other would cover theirs. But dont view your date as a "friend", that might not work out so well. Still pamper her and everything, just dont pay her part. and if you do pay her part even though you are not supposed to that could be looked at by her as a bad thing.

Nah, it means you accept to pay your share of the date. Like, if you go to a movie, you pay for your ticket and your date pays for his or hers. In other words, you split the cost.
