To make a HOT curry, add them at the beginning and at the end!
The chilies add at the beginning will permeate throughout your curry as it simmers (also may mellow them out). But chilies added at the end will give you a spicy kick!
Keep the yogurt handy!

HI, if you are putting whole red chillies, put in at the start of cooking in oil (sizzling), make sure that the oil is not too hot. if it is red chillie powder, i prefer it to b added later while the sauce comes to boil. Green chilli gives better taste when added as paste during sizzing again not with very hot oil/butter. Hope this helps, keep up cooking !

Its when you make the gravy, like putting all the spices with tomato paste that you add your chillies. Dont wait till the end to put some.........especially the powder!

At the beginning, chopped up, no seeds.....unless you want a SUPER HOT CHILE SAUCE which will obviate the curry flavor...
