Within the past few months I've been drinking a lot of wine, maybe about 4 bottles a week. I never used to have a problem with wine or alcohol of any kind but lately whenever I drink alcohol (mainly wine) I get sharp stomach pain and bloating. Also sometimes while drinking wine I suddenly feel dehydrated and very thirsty, this has only happened within the last month or so. It happens even when I've had plenty of water throughout the day and I know there isn't any way I could be dehydrated. It's the stomach pains that are mainly bothering me though, sometimes I double over in pain. Do you think it's my bodies way of telling me to lay off the alcohol for a while? Does this happen to anyone else?

Well, alcohol typically stimulates gastric acid secretion in the stomach, and may cause stomach ulcers in some people. This sounds like something that you may be experiencing, so ask your doctor about it. But, in the interim, you might try antacids (Tums) whenever you feel the stomach pain and see if that helps neutralize the gastric acid.

Well I am 16 years as well and taking alcohol doesn't hurt me as much as I think you do. You could try starting small and putting a tweeny bit of % alcohol into a glass of coke and sipping it. It SHOULD taste sweet, if your stomach still hurts, I strongly suggest going to see a doctor immediately and get your tummy checked. It could be an ulcer for all you know! For me personally, I would suggest you stop consume alcohol if it hurts your tummy! I do not like to consume alcohol anyway and it doesn't at all make you famous or man to do it. DON"T CONSUME JUST BECAUSE OF FRIENDS ASKING YOU TO! Its a very costly mistake! Have a great week!

I've had the exact same thing happen to me from wine. It hurts like crazy. I quit drinking alcohol a long time ago and the pain has never come back.
