In Mark 9:46, Jesus Christ says about hell: "Where THEIR WORM dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

Jesus said explicitly — THEIR worm — not a worm, or the worm — but THEIR worm. The Bible teaches that Christians will one day have a body like the Lord Jesus Christ. Could it be, as some Bible students teach — that men and women in hell take on the form of their father, Satan (John 8:44)? In Revelation 12:3, Satan is described as a red dragon. Could Jesus Christ be referring to the body lost men and women will have for eternity?

The earth’s crust on land is normally 50 miles thick. You’d have to go down 50 miles before the edge of the fire. But in parts of the ocean floor, the earth’s crust is less than a mile thick.

Scientists recently discovered cracks on the ocean floor where fire was leaking out. Do you know what they found around these fire-breathing vents in the crust? Eight-foot long worms, found no other place in the world! The book, The Deep Sea, by Joseph Wallace (p.39), reads, "Perhaps the strangest of ocean creatures recently discovered are Riftia, the giant tube WORMS. Measuring up to 8 feet in length, the worms are ONLY FOUND NEAR DEEP SEA VENTS."

And Jesus Christ said, "Where THEIR WORM dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

Have you read Isaiah 66 where the Lord Jesus Christ is quoting Mark 9:46?
Look at the context and time period of Isaiah 66:22-24:

Isaiah 66:22-24:
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

The "new heavens and new earth" of Isaiah 66:22 matches Revelation 21:1. This occurs AFTER the Great White Throne Judgement of Revelation 20:10-15! The references to "carcases"; "their worm"; "their fire" (vs 24) — is AFTER the Great White Throne Judgement of the LOST people! The reference to ". . the men that have transgressed. . ." are the LOST people AFTER the Great White Throne Judgement.
And at this point — they have received their NEW BODY! Notice what Isaiah says, the saved people shall "LOOK upon the CARCASES of the men that have transgressed. . ." It's worth mentioning that a "carcase" is not always a "DEAD body". For instance, two times the Bible specifically uses the term "dead carcase" (Deut. 14:8 and Ezek 6:5). If a carcase is ALWAYS a "dead" body, then why say "dead" carcase? And there's NOTHING in the context of Isaiah to imply these "men that transgressed" are "dead".

In fact, Isaiah clearly says, "their worm shall NOT DIE". Even in our language, we refer to a living body as a "carcase". For example, "Get your carcase [body] in here". Why is that important? Because when the saved people in Isaiah 66:24 are "looking upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed" — And do you know what they are SEEING? "Their worm"! The "carcase" they are seeing is "their WORM that shall not die". The end of Isaiah 66:24 is a frightening endorsement of this interpretation. What the saved people are viewing Isaiah says is , ". . . an abhorring unto all flesh". And my friend, that is not JUST a normal flesh body they are looking at! It is something that will send chills screaming through your soul at the horror. And it will happen!

And it will happen TO YOU if you die without the Lord Jesus Christ!

Even though the world tries to extinguish the cries and reality of hell — the truth of hell echoes throughout our world. We desperately pretend to cover our ears and igonore the "screams, the weeping, the wailing, the gnashing of teeth" but it is there. . . And we know it. We refuse to accept such a place exist. But it is there. And we know it. Nothing we can do, nothing we can say, can erase the horror of hell from our minds.

It is there. And we know it.

National Geographic magazine truthfully titled their story on Volcanoes "Going To Hell". When PBS did a series on The Savage Earth, one episode was titled "Hell's Crust: Our Everchanging Planet". Everything we know. Everything we observe. Echoes the truth of a place called hell.

Revelation 14:10 says, " . . . and he shall be tormented with fire and BRIMSTONE . . ." And Job 18 describes the " . . . PLACE of him that knoweth not God" (vs 21), in verse 15 as, " . . . BRIMSTONE shall be scattered upon his habitation." Do you know what brimstone is? It's sulfur. And do you know where sulfur or brimstone is found? INSIDE THIS EARTH! According to the book Volcanoes by Pierre Kohler (p. 43), when Mt. St Helens erupted in 1980 — 150,000 tons of sulfurous gas was ejected! Job is the oldest book in the Bible, written over 3,000 years ago, and yet Job knew what science wouldn't know for years — inside this earth is BRIMSTONE!

Nature magazine recently discovered (July 2002) what the Bible knew over 3,000 years ago. Inside this earth is "fire and brimstone":

"Volcanoes may be more like hell than anyone realized. Eruptions disgorge streams of molten sulphur, the brimstone of evangelical preachers, which burns up before it can be preserved for posterity, new research in the journal Geology shows".

Basically all I see here is a lot of references or comparisons back and forth between a book called the Bible vs. science, geology and underwater marine life. Where is the PROOF in what you say??

How is this description PROOF???

In my opinion, proof would be to have pictures of God, Satan, Heaven and/or Hell and have them scientifically examined numerous times to be sure they have not been altered. Again, that just my opinion however.

If you have pictures, post 'em and send a link and I would be more than happy to take a look at them.

The comparison between Satan and a red dragon is just one example of the things I could rip apart about your post and gonna have to be the only example because it's late, I'm tired and I have to be up early in the morning.

I don't mean to come off as an a$shole here but this is by NO MEANS PROOF.

People will twist the Bible to mean anything they want it to believe, won't they?

First of all, Jesus doesn't say ANYTHING in the Bible... What we are hearing is the retelling of what people SAY they heard Jesus say... actually, that's not true either... Since the Gospels were written by the later followers of the disciples of Jesus (people who were not even alive when Jesus was alive), and written up to 100 years after Jesus died, then we are hearing what the followers of the followers of the followers of the disciples of Jesus actually heard him say.

Didn't you ever you ever do the rumour activity in grade school where someone whispers something to someone in the class, and they proceed to go to the other side of the class doing the same thing, only finding out that what was said in the beginning was not what was said at the end?

You can't take the Gospels verbatim as the words of Jesus. They are a great guideline as to his believes and preachings, but most likely NOT his actual words.

In any case, your twisting of the words in the Bible to legitimate your crackhead ideas shows evangelicals have no basis in reality, and are sheep with no thought processes of their own...

Stop searching the Bible for quotes you can take out of context to support your ideas and go and actually read a science textbook.

And Job's book was NOT the oldest written book of the Bible. There are concepts in it that did not exist in the earlier books of Genesis, Leviticus, Exodus, etc... Especially regarding the differences between external acts of faith and internal beliefs on morality (i.e. why do people who are externally good and always follow the Law still die).

Also... your ideas of what hell is don't come from the Bible. They come from Dante... Hell is never described as the fiery furnace you are trying to compare with the ocean vents between tectonic plates.

Pay attention to what you are reading a little more.

Proof applies to maths and logic, not this kind of thing. However, consider this. Suppose we have eternal life, as Christians often claim. We have a choice between opening ourselves mentally and spiritually to the eternal and infinite God or we can choose to close our minds to God and be selfish. Loneliness and isolation does terrible things to people even during our time here. Just imagine how bad it could get if you're alone forever. That's what you do when you turn your back on goodness - you hurt yourself and condemn yourself to eternal suffering. The only way this wouldn't happen is for us to be infinite or to be open to the infinite. Were we infinite, we would be God and there cannot be more than one God because God is omniscient and every mental event would be an object in the mind of two infinite omniscient beings, thereby rendering them identical, so we are finite and we need God to rescue us from the Hell we will inevitably make for ourselves otherwise.

I'm sorry but this proves nothing whatsoever, if you actually want to prove that there is a hell you would need to actually prove it though science beyond the reason of a doubt. I will give you an example of why this proves nothing.

My religion is the taco religion. We are all descendants of the great taco since we are made of various juicy meats. If we eat tacos every day we will go to taco bell when we die, if we don't we will go to taco hell. I have no actual proof that this is true, but it is written down and I said it was true...so it must be true. Convert to tacoism or go to taco hell!

Prove every other religion wrong, then maybe other people will listen. Until then your just some ignorant fool who is tring to push his beliefs (which he actually can't prove is true) onto other people.

So you're saying my hysterical aunt is right? Hell really is a volcano where all non-believers will be cast for eternity with a boulder sealing its mouth so no one can get out? Wow - I just thought she was a religious nutcase.

Anyway - so how is any of this *real proof*? Why is it you guys see bible scripture as 100% exacting truth and treat it as factual proof? I find that strange. Let's move on from similes, metaphors, and parables and get down to *real proof*. I want to have coffee with Satan tomorrow morning at 8am sharp. If you can arrange that - I'll believe you.

Look I think that Hell is held over people far too much, so Hell is real okay but I seem to remember that Jesus preached forgiveness and compassion more than He ever mentioned Hellfire, Atheists, and we Catholics appear to be well on our way there according to a lot of hardcore denominations.

Well, zippy. They aren't true worms, they're just long, so in your ignorance, you think they are worms. They are vestimentiferans and they have some extraordinary selective adaptations (that was just to p*ss you off) to deal with their environment, including having no mouths, using bacteria to process H2S, CO2 and O2 into something they can use for sustenance and a highly sophisticated transport system to safely get all that to the bacteria. They subsist without energy from the sun.

Now, why would god create something that complex to be your worm of horror and condemnation?

Only people who are already Christian would accept your evidence which you cited by using the Holy Christian Bible. Do you see that? I know that Hell and Heaven are Christian afterlives. And Muslim. I'm neither, so I needn't worry about it. Do you think people of other faiths, like Hindus, Buddhists, Witches and such will all be going to your Christian afterlives? I don't think so. All other faiths have their own afterlives that have nothing to do with you or your faith. All faiths are valid and true.

The Christianity I know doesn't believe in hell. Hell is eternal death, not eternal torment. Do you think God is that evil? I think not. When people die they go to their graves. It is called Sheol in the Bible. Look it up.
