My boy friend is clumsy...he is not a drunk but he spills wine all over my house and then takes off...cause he knows I get upset. I have a designer home, which I designed. He has spilt wine on my couch two times and in my bedroom two times. Last night he spilt wine again on my couch and the walls...they now have to be repainted..and my white rug needs to be replaced. What would you do or say if your boyfriend did that I still wanted to drink his wine in your home?

What were you thinking when you bought a white rug? Oh yea..You drink a lot of wine...That explains it !! Sober up, then go buy a new rug. Get your boyfriend a beer, and quit whining. Houses are made to be lived in, and are not intended as museums.

Five glasses of wine spilled are enough, I think. How do the spills happen? Is the glass simply minding its own business on a table and he waves his arms or something and knocks them over? Or is he placing them on unstable surfaces like the floor or bed or couch or something?

My suggestion is that you tell him since he can't keep the wine glasses from falling over, that he has to drink out of a sippy cup. Maybe they have a glass version somewhere so he can't complain about drinking out of plastic.

Better yet, tell him he seems a bit "flimsy" drinking his blush "zin" all the time, and tell him to drink beer from bottles like a normal man. :-)

Well, that's a tough one. If he's spilling wine so often, he's either going to have to drink in the dining room at the table or switch to white wine. Maybe he's having a problem with stemmed glasses, so switch to a highball glass and don't let him fill it up or buy the new wine glasses that don't have a stem, you know, short, fat and squatty. I don't blame you for being upset, I would be, too.

Enjoy your designer home and let him drink his wine. Put it in a sippy cup, or better still, a plastic baby bottle with a nipple. Result: pristine white rug, clean couch, unspotted walls and a happy boyfriend. Cheers!

That does it. I'm designing my Whiny Sippy Cup for Big People and Sommeliers. Send the guy down to Moe's or have him sit in the jacuzzi tub until he's done topping up.

Most ppl aren't that clumsy--it sounds more like he can't hold is liquor.

Does he have a problem? & How long have you been together? I mean you seem to be more worried about your house than your boyfriend--I don't mean that badly--maybe it is supposed to show you that you care more about your house than your bf! Hint hint?

If you've tried to talk to him & it hasn't worked out--then he doesn't respect your efforts--that just is not going to work out for you unless you want to buy a plastic house?
