14 years old and my back hurts like I'm 65! I don't know what to do! It hurts so bad, all along my spine and around my shoulder blades. Sometimes it even goes into my lower neck. I crack my back a lot, and sometimes it makes it feel a bit better, but is this making it worse? Other things that might be a part of it: I dance, cheer, and carry a large, heavy bag on my left shoulder for a total of about 2 hours a day during the week(give or take). Someone out there please help me!!! :'(

1. Use hot packs on your back and then use "icy hot" cream you will find it in any drug store.
2. Dont carry this bag and avoid sitting for a long time or standing for a long time, walking and lying down flat help a lot.
3. Try to strenghthen your back muscles.
4. Lie flat on your back and lift your legs to 90degrees then bring your legs back slowly. do this 10 times 3 times a day.

One carry the bag over both shoulder's at same time less stress that way on one side of back. If your back is popping regularly you might want to see a chiropractor and learn some back strengthening techniques. Constant popping will cause arthritis to set in earlier in life. Plus the cracking your doing may not be getting whats causing it to go out. Only a doctor or chiropractor (back doctor) can diagnose what is going on. Talk to you parents and get it checked out.

Sounds like you are having muscle spasms. Shift shoulders with that heavy bag...............also try using a heating pad,it will ease some of your pain. Tylenol will help, use as directed. Also, make a rice sock, get a tube sock, put 3cups of rice in it,tie it off, nuke in the microwave for 2-3minutes. It will be VERY HOT!!!!!!!Let cool and place between your shoulder blades, lean back to hold in place and watch t.v. You should get some relief with this. I am serious about the bag, they are proven to be really bad for your neck/back. Lighten the load if you can, otherwise shift shoulders often. Good luck.

do not put heat on a muscle,,it stretches it. You need to put cold on it every 10 mins on the hour. cold will reduce the swelling in the muscle which will make it heal faster. DO NOT put heat on your muscles!
